A private wilderness camp is your base. Upon arrival at Melaleuca, you'll board a vessel to access the camp, where you'll be accommodated for two nights. The wilderness camp is located in one of the world's last remaining temperate rainforests, on the shores of Bathurst Harbour. This camp has no walking track access and is completely exclusive to the walkers on the tour. You'll stay in comfortable accommodation with hot showers and enjoy quality Tasmanian food and wine.

Just a few kilometres off Tasmania's east coast, Maria Island is 100% national park with a population of just two park rangers and their one car. This World Heritage Listed island is a sanctuary, and a Noah's Ark for rare Tasmanian birds and animals including an introduced population of disease-free Tasmanian devils.
The Maria Island Walk is an adventure led by warm, friendly and knowledgeable local guides. The food is fresh and local, the wine is Tasmania's best, and a comfortable bed each night awaits. The walk itself is easy to moderate with options to add challenge as desired.
Guests stay overnight in two delightful wilderness campsites, both a stone's throw away from pristine, white-sand beaches. These beaches are the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine, enjoy a barefoot stroll exploring for rare shells, or a swim in the turquoise waters that grace the island's shores.
On the final night, guests of the Maria Island Walk stay in a heritage house in Darlington, a UNESCO World Heritage site nestled on the northern tip of the island. Once a busting penal settlement with over 600 convicts, Darlington is now home to a medley of well-preserved historical buildings. It's also an excellent place to see wombats!
The walks operates between the months of October to April. If you wish to walk between the months of June to August, we offer a 3 day Maria Island Winter Escape.
NOTE: The walk is suitable for walkers who can walk 10 - 15 km a day carrying light daypacks of 6-8kg. Participants over 70 require a medical certificate. There are limited portered departures (PACK-FREE, guests only carry a daypack). Please contact us if you are interested in PACK-FREE departures only.
