    You begin your journey in Darwin, here you will be transferred to the Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre before making your way to Mamukala Wetlands in Kakadu for a short walk among the refuge for numerous wetland birds. Take in the sights of the famous Ubirr rock art site, cruise up East Alligator River and take a walking tour of remote restricted rock art sites around Arnhem land with an Aboriginal guide. Visit Nourlangie rock art site and walk the 12km Barrk Walk around the escarpment. Walk to Yurmikmik lookout and head to Gunlom Falls for a well deserved cool off in the crystal-clear waters. Discover the incredible swimming holes of the Edith Falls Area in Nitmiluk National Park on a section of the Jatbula trail and hike to Butterfly Gorge before a cruise down the impressive Katherine River, finishing the tour off with a choice of walking trails in Litchfield National Park before returning to Darwin.

    We will be staying at a variety of different accommodations on our Kakadu, Nitmiluk and Litchfield walking tour. In Kakadu we will be staying at Anbinik Kakadu Resort for 3 nights. At Anbinik we spread across the 6-pack blocks which have a central kitchen and communal area for everyone to come together. Bathrooms are share between multiple rooms. Anbinik most importantly also boasts a swimming pool where you can go for a swim after a day on the trail. In Pine creek we will stay at the Pinecreek railway resort. The rooms are simple but perfectly adequate for one night, and each room has ensuite bathrooms. A pool is also available. Around Nitmiluk we will be staying in 2-bedroom apartments at St Andrews Serviced Apartments, Katherine. We will come together in one of the apartments for our meals and nibbles. Accommodation is allocated on a double or twin share basis. If you are a solo traveller we will room you with another solo traveller of the same sex. Limited single supplements are available at an additional charge. Please ask for details and availability if interested.

    The walk is fully supported and catered. You only carry a daypack. Walking distances range from 3km to 12km per day. A moderate level of fitness should be able to complete the walk.

    This walking package includes return transfers to/from Darwin, all nights at mentioned accommodation on a twin share basis and all meals as well as all transport in an air-conditioned bus. Enjoy professional guiding and support each day and ferry tickets for your Guluyambi and Arnhem Land experience as well as National Park entrance fees.

    Join the Yolŋu family and immerse yourself in the traditional way of life, on this life-changing 5-day cross country tour through the Yolŋu Homeland in East Arnhem Land.

    Located in the farthest reaches of remote Northern Australia, East Arnhem Land is a vast and rugged wilderness. Here, you will find dramatic, unspoiled coastlines and palm tree-strewn, pearl-white beaches. The Yolŋu have roamed this area for at least 40,000 years, hunting fish and other animals and forging a deep connection with the land. Each Yolŋu Homeland has its own unique creation story, personality and landscapes.

    Over 5 magical days, the Yolŋu community welcomes you into their Homeland to experience their traditional way of life. Embark on a fascinating Cultural Awareness Program to learn firsthand about Yolŋu culture, history and country. You will learn about and experience Yolŋu philosophy and kinship, gender roles and responsibilities, and language, both spoken and sign. You will also have the opportunity to participate in traditional food gathering activities as well as crafts such as dancing, painting, weaving, jewellery making and didgeridoo making (activities will vary depending on gender). Along the way, the Yolŋu will share stories about the area and history of the region (pre- and post-contact) and take you through a number of incredible landscapes. Be prepared to leave your watches and your smartphones behind and not follow the itinerary precisely. You will interact with the Yolŋu people and their traditional lands on a much deeper level without these digital distractions.

    This immersive, 5-day cross-country tour includes 3-nights’ basic homestay (shared bathroom) at Yolŋu Homeland and 1-night’s accommodation at a motel in Nhulunbuy on a twin share basis. All meals are included as well as Yolŋu driver-guides, cultural experiences with Yolŋu families and all transport in the East Arnhem Region (including airport transfers and ground touring). All permit fees are also included along with entry into the world-renowned Buku-Larrnggay Mulka art centre.
