Optional Extras:
Kick off your adventure bright and early on Day 1 as you journey to the stunning Windjana Gorge (Bandilngan). The drive is an experience in itself, taking you through breathtaking landscapes dotted with iconic boab trees, vast savannah woodlands, and even the famous Prison Tree. Upon arrival, settle in for two nights of camping under the stars at Windjana Gorge.
Day 2 is all about exploring the natural wonders of the National Park. Start with an easy walk into Windjana Gorge, where you'll discover remnants of the prehistoric Great Barrier Reef. Keep an eye out for freshwater crocodiles basking along the water’s edge (no swimming allowed, of course!). After lunch, head to Tunnel Creek (Dimalurru) for a truly unique experience—wade through the cool waters of the ancient tunnel and emerge on the other side, surrounded by stunning rock formations. An unforgettable start to your journey!
Our adventure continues with a visit to Bell Gorge, a breathtaking oasis in the King Leopold Ranges. Here, a stunning waterfall cascades into a crystal-clear waterhole, fed by the rains of the previous wet season. This iconic spot is one of the most photographed in the Kimberley, and it’s easy to see why. Take your time to swim, relax, and soak in the natural beauty before we travel further north to set up camp at Mt Barnett Station, nestled along the tranquil banks of Manning Creek.
Day 4 begins with an early start, allowing us to fully enjoy the scenic walk to Manning Gorge and its magnificent falls. Spend the morning swimming, unwinding, and marveling at the beauty of this unique location while enjoying morning tea prepared by your guide. After lunch back at camp, the afternoon is yours to spend as you wish. Relax under the shade of a boab tree with a good book, cool off with another swim in a nearby creek, or join your leader for a visit to other stunning gorges in the area.
On Day 5, prepare for a scenic drive as you journey along the iconic Gibb River Road. This rugged 600 km dirt track winds through the heart of the Kimberley, offering breathtaking views and the infamous ‘Gibb River Road massage’—a bumpy but unforgettable experience. While there’s plenty of ground to cover, the trip is broken up with stops at picturesque locations like the Pentecost River Lookout, where you’ll take in sweeping views of the floodplain and the majestic Cockburn Ranges. River crossings and stunning landscapes make the drive an adventure in itself. By evening, you’ll arrive at El Questro Wilderness Park, where you can unwind with dinner at the El Questro restaurant and enjoy a drink at the Swinging Arm Bar.
Your next three nights at El Questro Station give you ample time to explore the natural wonders of the area. Take a rejuvenating dip in the thermal pools of Zebedee Springs, a lush natural oasis, or lace up your hiking boots for a trek to the Cockburn Ranges, where a refreshing swim awaits beneath the waterfalls of Emma Gorge or El Questro Gorge. Looking for a more relaxed experience? Consider an optional cruise along the serene Chamberlain Gorge, an excellent way to take in the region’s beauty without breaking a sweat.
Today, we pack up and journey to Kununurra, with a stop at the Parry Lagoons Nature Reserve, home to hundreds of vibrant waterbirds. Upon arrival, you’ll have the afternoon free to unwind—catch up on some laundry, relax with a book, or simply soak in the peaceful atmosphere while your crew restocks fresh supplies for the next leg of the adventure. In the evening, you’re welcome to grab a drink at a local pub or enjoy dinner at one of Kununurra’s inviting restaurants.
On Day 9, we’ll explore Mirima National Park, often called the ‘Mini Bungles,’ where you can marvel at the striking, layered rock formations shaped over 300 million years. These colorful natural sculptures are particularly stunning in the changing light—don’t forget your camera! Afterward, we’ll stop in town for an optional lunch before heading to Lake Argyle. Here, you can choose to embark on a scenic cruise along the Ord River before returning to your accommodation in town.
Journey to Purnululu National Park, one of Western Australia’s three natural UNESCO World Heritage sites. Prepare for an adventure as you navigate rugged outback tracks featuring creek crossings, washouts, and slow, bumpy sections. After reaching your campsite and settling in, take a leisurely stroll before your guide leads you to a stunning sunset viewpoint. Witness the iconic red rocks of the Bungle Bungle Range transform in color as the sun dips below the horizon—an unforgettable sight best enjoyed with a drink in hand.
Begin your day with a Welcome to Country ceremony led by a local Aboriginal guide. Embark on a walk through the iconic Domes, where you’ll learn about traditional bush tucker and bush medicine. Continue into the breathtaking Cathedral Gorge as your guide shares stories of how Countrymen once journeyed through the very landscape you’re exploring. Upon entering the gorge, experience the cultural essence of the space as your guide connects with you through drawing, singing, or storytelling.
Afterward, it’s time to pack up and head to Larrawa Station for the final evening of your adventure. Gather with your group to celebrate your journey, enjoying a delicious dinner and drinks prepared by your leader at the Larrawa Station campground.

The Kimberley has two distinct seasons: wet season (December to March) and dry season (April to November). During ‘the Wet’ most 4WD roads and National Parks are closed. As such, this tour operates during ‘the Dry’ with daytime temperatures ranging from 28-30-degrees Celsius. Be aware, however, that the region can get surprisingly cold overnight: Broome can get to 12-degrees Celsius, while the Bungle Bungles can drop to a frosty 5-degrees Celsius!
Note: In September and October, as ‘the Wet’ approaches, temperatures increase accordingly, and it can be very hot during the day. It is essential you are prepared for this.
Telstra users will get phone reception in most towns and the occasional remote hot spot. However, there will be long stretches on no reception at all. Nevertheless, power points will be accessible on most nights for recharging cameras and other electronic equipment.
