Start your tour in the historic pearling town of Broome this morning and head for Windjana Gorge passing Boab Trees (including the famous Prison Tree) and the savannah plains. Windjana Gorge (Bandilhgan) is a delightful outback oasis. We'll visit the Mowanjum Aboriginal Art and Culture Centre where local artists display work depicting Wandjina and Gwion Gwion figures in an art form based on cave paintings.
Walking distance: Approx. 7 km walking
Today you'll explore Windjana Gorge including a 7 km return walk. The high walls of this gorge were once part of an ancient Devonian reef that once surrounded the Kimberley. With its varied bird life, interesting reef walls and its many freshwater crocodiles, Windjana will keep you enthralled for hours. In the afternoon you'll visit Tunnel Creek, spending time walking through the 750m long cave system. Tunnel Creek is Western Australia's oldest cave system, and famous as a hideout used late last century by the Aboriginal leader Jandamarra.
Short walk and swim
Head through the Napier Range to Mt Barnett Station. Venture to the beautiful Bell Gorge in the ancient King Leopold Range. Bell Gorge is the most famous gorge along the Gibb River Road – and for good reason. The multi-tiered waterfall cascades down the U-shaped cliffs into a deep pool perfect for swimming, while the large flat rocks along the side are the ideal place to sit down, sunbathe, have a picnic or whatever else you can think of. You can also explore the creek and gorge further, both up and downstream. Arriving at the Manning Gorge campsite there will be plenty of time to enjoy this magnificent oasis and another peaceful night under the stars.
Walking distance: Approx. 6 - 10 km walking
Today is spent exploring this extensive gorge. Enjoy a beautiful morning walk to Manning Gorge and Falls. There is a great walk to the Manning Falls, with beautiful scenery. Swim, relax and soak in the atmosphere while enjoying your morning tea provided by your guides. Return to the campsite for lunch. In the afternoon, for those looking to explore, there are a few gorges within striking distance, so we can take a drive out to explore one of them. For those looking for a relaxed afternoon, it is time to read a book under a boab tree and perhaps another swim in the creek nearby to the camp.
Continue up the Gibb River Road and cross the Durack River and pass the site of the old Durack River Homestead - destroyed by flood in 2002. The road is often quite corrugated. The spectacular scenery includes the Pentecost River Lookout, which overlooks the river flood plain.
Walking distance: Approx. 5 - 10 km walking
During these two days there will be plenty of walking options that we will undertake here. These include Amalia Gorge, Emma Gorge, Telegraph Hill & El Questro Gorge walks plus a luxuriant soak in Zebedee Thermal Springs. There is an optional cruise on Chamberlain Gorge if anyone wants an easy afternoon.
An early morning departure as you head for Kununurra. Today's drive will take you visiting the Ramsar wetland Parry Lagoons on the way - a great spot to experience masses of waterbirds and possibly sight a saltwater crocodile or two.
Arrive in the outback town of Kununurra. There will be time this afternoon to catch up on washing, postcards or just to relax. Dinner is not included tonight to give you the opportunity to taste some local delights.
Visit Mirima National Park known locally as the "mini Bungles" in the morning.
In afternoon, a trip to the mighty Lake Argyle - a vast freshwater lake nestled amongst a rugged billion year old landscape. Lake Argyle is the largest reservoir of freshwater in Australia when in flood. There is plenty to see and do in and around the lake with its countless islands, bays and beaches. There is the option to take a boat trip up the Ord River, which ends at Lake Argyle.
This morning you leave Kununurra and head for Purnululu National Park - one of only three natural World Heritage sites in WA. The 53 kilometre road into the park is our reintroduction to outback tracks with creek crossings, wash aways and rough slow sections. After setting up camp you will head out to watch the sun set against the red rock of the Bungle Range - bring a drink if you like!
Walking distance: Approx. 11 - 12 km walking
You spend the next two days exploring the natural wonders the park including Echidna Chasm, Mini Palms Gorge, the spectacular orange and black 'beehive' domes, Piccaninny Creek and Cathedral Gorge. There is time during our stay for an optional helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungle Range.

Easy to Moderate – many walks are short and most of the longer ones allow you to go as far as you like before you turn back. The walks in the Kimberley are not particularly difficult. Some are quite rocky underfoot however none are particularly long, so we can afford to take our time. Most of the walks include an opportunity to swim in a beautiful water hole.
The Kimberley region of Western Australia has a tropical climate that see two distinct seasons. From May to September, the Dry season sees very little rain and long, sunny, cloudless days. Temperatures in the dry season are cooler than the very hot Wet season, ranging between 31°c and 37°c.The Wet season spans from October to April, a time of increased humidity and increased rainfall (32-40°c). The rivers become full and masses of wildlife congregate on their shores. The dress code is relaxed, smart casual with suitable footwear for bushwalking. Provided we are advised in advance of your departure we are able to cater for dietary requirements. Please ensure you discuss your requirements with us well in advance to determine whether we can cater to such dietary requirements on your chosen adventure. Please note that options are likely to be limited in very remote locations or alternatives may be more expensive or unavailable. There may be times when those with special requirements may need to provide their own food. We are unable to guarantee a peanut‐free or allergen‐free trip, and therefore, we strongly encourage that travellers with life‐threatening or severe allergies take all necessary medical precautions to prepare for the possibility of exposure. You must travel with all necessary medications for food allergies and be capable of self‐administering these medications.
Drinking water is always available. Guests may bring a small quantity of alcohol, cardboard wine casks are preferred and beer must be in cans rather than stubbies. We have limited cooling capacity onboard so a cask of red wine, if you drink it, is the perfect drink to bring. We can cool a few cans of beer each evening though so if you're a beer drinker you'll be okay.
The main reason we prefer cardboard and cans is that there are very limited rubbish disposal sites. Being able to crush the containers saves a lot of space. Also, they are far less likely to break as we're driving over rough roads!
Please note that bottle shops in Kununurra and Broome don't sell casks of wine (to reduce problems associated with binge/ excessive drinking) so please bring them with you in your luggage. It is okay to purchase some bottles of wine, but we would like to keep it to a minimum. You can purchase alcohol in Broome, at El Questro Station and in Kununurra.
