Upon your arrival at Milano Bergamo Airport (BGY), a private transfer will bring you to our first hotel, Hotel La Ripa. Nestled in the foothills of the Alps with commanding views over Bergamo's historic Città Alta, this elegant hotel serves as the perfect setting to unwind and prepare for the week of cycling ahead.
Once you've settled in, our expert guides and mechanics will be on hand to assist with building your bike and making any final adjustments to ensure it's in top condition. You’ll then have the opportunity for a short, leg-stretching ride to familiarise yourself with the local roads and soak in the serene atmosphere of the Lombardy region.

Leaving the vibrant city of Milan, located in the heart of Lombardia, our journey takes us onto the famous routes of the Giro di Lombardia, also known as “The Race of the Falling Leaves.” The day begins with a climb up Colle Gallo, offering incredible views of the serene Lago d’Endine and the surrounding peaks, including Montecampione. Montecampione is well-known in cycling history, particularly for Marco Pantani’s legendary performance during the 1998 Giro d’Italia.
After descending and circling around the peaceful Lago d’Endine, the route presents another challenge as we tackle the climb to Solto Collina. This climb leads us toward Lago d’Iseo, Italy’s sixth-largest lake, known for its tranquil waters and charming lakeside villages. Lago d’Iseo is also home to Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Europe, which can be seen from various vantage points. A quick stop at one of the lakeside cafes is highly recommended, where you can rest and enjoy a well-earned coffee while taking in the picturesque surroundings.
The final 25 kilometers of the ride trace the edge of Lago d’Iseo, featuring winding roads along dramatic cliffs. The route offers stunning views of the lake and mountains at every corner, making for a scenic and memorable end to the first day of cycling. It’s a day filled with iconic climbs, breathtaking landscapes, and plenty of opportunities to soak in the beauty of this region.

As we enter Edolo, our path turns right, guiding us under a centuries-old bridge that whispers tales of the past. From here, the final 30 kilometers of the day unfold. We will cycle past the base of the legendary Mortirolo, a name that resonates with cycling enthusiasts, before arriving at the renowned ski resort of Ponte di Legno. This charming town serves as a key gateway for Alpine cycling and is the perfect sanctuary to rest and prepare for the epic climbs that await you tomorrow.

The day begins with a gentle downhill ride through the picturesque towns of Valdidentro and Grosio, allowing your legs a welcome reprieve before you face the base of the legendary Mortirolo. Renowned throughout the cycling world and once described by Lance Armstrong as its most formidable ascent, the Mortirolo is a true test of spirit and strength. The climb is relentless, stretching for 12 kilometers at a punishing average gradient of 12%.
Upon reaching the summit, your reward is not only the immense satisfaction of the climb but also a challenging yet beautiful ride along the ridge, which presents spectacular, sweeping views into neighboring Switzerland. From there, a thrilling and fast descent brings you into the welcoming mountain town of Aprica. Here, the irresistible aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the promise of exquisite local cuisine await, a well-deserved indulgence after conquering three epic climbs in as many days.

The day starts with a descent from Aprica to the town of Edolo, a relatively easy stretch to ease into the ride. From Edolo, we continue through the small town of Malonno, nestled in the Lombardy region, before beginning the first major climb of the day to Passo Vivione. This mountain pass is a quiet, car-free route that offers stunning views as you transition from dense forest to the open, high alpine landscape.
At the summit of Passo Vivione, we take a well-deserved break to enjoy lunch and take in the surrounding scenery. After refuelling, it's time for the final climb of the week: Passo Presolana. While it's a shorter climb at just 8 kilometers, the last 3 kilometers present a real challenge, making it a memorable way to end the week’s efforts.
The ride finishes with a descent into Clusone. This charming town offers a wonderful place to relax after the day’s ride. In the evening, we come together to celebrate over dinner in the heart of Clusone’s historic centre, reflecting on the incredible journey through the region.
You’ll stay at Hotel Milano Alpen Resort in Presolana, a perfect retreat for bikers, nestled in the stunning Italian Alps. The resort offers a luxurious spa, indoor pool, and wellness facilities, along with bike-friendly amenities.

Summer, from June to September, is ideal for cycling, with valley temperatures typically ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. At higher altitudes on the mountain passes, the air is cooler. The shoulder seasons of spring and autumn offer milder temperatures. This seasonal climate variation provides a range of conditions for outdoor experiences, from cycling in the valleys to climbing the summits.

Where to Meet: Please arrange to meet us at Milano Bergamo Airport (BGY) at 2pm on Day 1. We will contact you via WhatsApp in the days leading up to the start of your tour to confirm the name of the staff member collecting you.
Drop off Location: We can assist you with planning and booking of onward travel following the conclusion of your tour. We will run a transfer to Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) on the last day, leaving the hotel at 10.30am. For alternative destinations or departure times, please contact us.
Transfer Time: Please consider eating lunch before we collect you from the Airport. The transfer time to the first hotel is 40 minutes on day 1. Transfer from the last hotel to Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) on Day 8 is around 1h15.
Riding in The Alps: The roads in the Alps are generally in excellent condition, especially on the major mountain passes. Traffic is usually light - drivers in the region are used to sharing the road with cyclists and are typically respectful.
Cuisine: Expect rich, comforting dishes made with local ingredients like mountain cheeses, cured meats, mushrooms, polenta, and fresh pasta. A must-try? Canederli – bread dumplings with speck or cheese, the classic sweet apple strudel, and pizzoccheri – buckwheat pasta with potatoes, cabbage, and melted cheese.
