As twilight descends, we will gather for a celebratory aperitivo, raising a glass to the week of discovery that lies ahead. Today's destination is the beautiful town of Ostuni, also known as the "White City." Sitting on a hill with stunning views of the Adriatic Sea, Ostuni is surrounded by vast fields of ancient olive trees, a defining feature of the Puglia region. Its narrow streets, whitewashed buildings, and historic centre make it a must-see.
Before arriving in Ostuni, we'll stop in Monopoli, a charming coastal town known for its picturesque harbour, colourful fishing boats, and historic old town. Here, you'll have time to enjoy a second breakfast or a coffee by the water, soaking up the relaxed seaside atmosphere.
Once we reach Ostuni, you'll have time to explore its winding streets, visit local shops, or simply take in the panoramic views. After completing the ride, you can choose to return by van, giving you the chance to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. It’s the perfect way to end another fulfilling day of exploring Puglia by bike.

In Matera, we’ll stay at a centrally located hotel, giving you the chance to explore this fascinating city. Matera is famous for its ancient "Sassi" cave dwellings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers a glimpse into the region’s unique history. Staying in this area allows you to fully experience the charm and culture of this remarkable destination.
You’ll stay at Palazzo del Duca, a one-of-a-kind cave hotel located in the heart of Matera's captivating Sassi district. Indulge your senses at the hotel's exclusive spa, a sanctuary of tranquillity with a heated pool and wellness treatments, before ascending to the terrace for breathtaking panoramic views of the city's timeless landscape.

Today's ride will take us to Altamura, a unique town known across Italy for its famous Altamura bread. We'll stop for lunch at a historic bakery where you’ll get to see how the bread is made and, of course, taste it fresh from the oven. It’s a great way to experience one of the town’s most well-known traditions.
After lunch, we’ll head to Matera for a guided walking tour. Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its ancient cave dwellings called the Sassi. During the tour, we’ll explore these fascinating stone structures, learn about the city’s rich history, and discover some of the hidden corners that make Matera so special.
In the evening, we’ll have our final group dinner together, a chance to reflect on the highlights of the trip, share stories, and enjoy some laughs as we wrap up this memorable cycling adventure.

We’ll then arrange your transfer to Bari Airport (BRI), leaving you with unforgettable memories of southern Italy's beauty, the distinct flavours of Puglia and Basilicata, and the friendships forged along the way.

Spring and autumn offer the best riding conditions — mild weather, fewer crowds, and Puglia at its most beautiful. Puglia enjoys a classic Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny weather for most of the year. Summers are hot, with temperatures typically ranging from the low to mid-30s Celsius, ideal for beach visits along the Adriatic Sea. Autumn brings cooler but still warm temperatures through October, making it a comfortable time to explore the region. Winters are mild, with daytime temperatures averaging between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius. Spring sees the return of warmer weather and blooming landscapes, leading into another hot summer season.

Where to Meet: Please arrange to meet us at Bari Airport (BRI) at 2pm on Day 1. We will contact you via WhatsApp in the days leading up to the start of your tour to confirm your transfer and the name of the staff member collecting you.
Drop off Location: Following the conclusion of the tour we will assist you with planning and booking of onward travel. We will run one transfer to Bari Airport (BRI) leaving the hotel at 10.30am. For alternative destinations or departure times, please contact us.
Transfer Time: Please consider eating lunch before we collect you from Bari Airport (BRI). The transfer time from Bari Airport to Conversano is 40 mins. Transfer time from Matera to Bari Airport is 45 minutes.
Riding in Puglia: The road conditions in Puglia are generally good. Local drivers are used to sharing the road with cyclists and are typically respectful.
Cuisine: The food is excellent in Puglia. Restaurants now cater for both vegan and vegetarians. If you have any special dietary requirements please advise us on the questionnaire. There a lot of traditional food, Olive Oil (Puglia is one of the largest producers of olive oil in Italy), "Pugliese" bread, Orecchiette, a small, ear-shaped pasta, Burrata and Mozzarella, Pasticciotto (a famous Puglian dessert) and wine (Primitivo and Negroamaro are two red grape varieties that thrive in the region, producing robust and flavorful wines).

We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid.
