Upon arrival at Nadi Airport (NAN), you will be greeted by a Turtle Island Resort representative, who will assist you in transferring to the seaplane (or boat) for onward travel to Turtle Island. Departures from Nadi are usually around 11:00am. (See notes for more information).
Arrive at Turtle Island and spend the rest of the day relaxing in paradise. Designed in harmony with nature, your beachfront home offers peaceful privacy and ocean views. Some villas have spa baths. Others have private outdoor showers. All are light-filled and breezy, with gentle winds wafting the intoxicating scent of tropical blossoms.
When you’re ready, head out to acquaint yourself with Turtle Island’s 12 private beaches. White sands nestled in a volcanic cove. A vibrant reef at your feet. Whether you’re planning a picture-perfect proposal at sunset, a memorable anniversary or honeymoon, or an in-the-moment picnic among the palms, Turtle Island is so unique, it seems to have been created for pure romance.
As the sun sets, enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapes with fellow guests. Then, take a seat at the communal dining table for the evening meal. You’ll dine on one-of-a-kind creations, adapted for any special dietary requirements — Pacific Green Lobster and Yellow Fin Tuna caught daily by local fishermen from nearby villages, tender Australian beef, and sweet native fruits and island-grown vegetables from the onsite garden. Those wanting a beverage are spoilt for choice with a range of handpicked wines from boutique wineries in premier wine regions to choose from. These wineries are just far enough off the beaten path in France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, America that you’ll likely be trying them for the first time.
Venture into the crystal-clear waters for a morning of snorkelling or scuba diving (bring your dive card).
Known as the “Soft Coral Capital of the World”, Fiji is home to hundreds of different corals and sponges as well as more than 1,000 species of fish. Snorkeling can be enjoyed almost anywhere on the island – from right off your doorstep to the main beach. Diving, meanwhile, is best enjoyed on the virgin reefs, where you can swim among turtles and experience a dizzying display of South Pacific sea life.
Around midday, return to dry land for a private picnic on the beach. Indulge in succulent fruits and tantalising pastries, paired with champagne and the finest wines from around the word.
When you’re ready, return to the water for an afternoon of water sports. Explore the waters by kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP), take hold of the breeze by windsurfing or sailing, or try your luck at fishing for species ranging from Wahoo to Marlin.
As the sunsets, embark on a guided cruise of the Blue Lagoon, the set of the eponymous movie starring Brooke Shields. Dinner is served on a floating pontoon. Bedecked and softly lit by lanterns, it’s hard to imagine a more fanciful setting.
Spend the day exploring the island’s many walking and biking trails.
Whether you’re looking for a full-on hike or a leisurely stroll, Turtle Island has something for everyone. You can run the canopied jungle trails, explore golden grasslands or meander through the lush, 5-acre garden. The scenery is spectacular – native forests of raintree, tavola, Noko Noko and mahogany, verdant hills, magnificent mangroves, rugged, black volcanic cliffs, and, of course, crystal-clear waters and white sands. Head to one of the private beaches or push yourself a little further to the top of Mount Ford for breathtaking views. The friendly staff are always delighted to guide you, or you can venture out on your own. (A picnic lunch in the forest or a secluded cove can be arranged).
Tonight, weather permitting, dinner is hosted atop Mount Ford. The evening begins with cocktails at Vonu Bar — a bit of sustenance for those intrepid guests willing to make the trek up the mountain trail. From the trail peals laughter and song, as the culinary caravan gets underway. At the top of the mountain, more merriment ensues with dancing before dinner. As you’re gathered around the dining table together, breathe in a moment of silence under the stars, reveling in this shared gift of nature.
Meet and mingle with locals on a guided tour to a nearby village. Your staff are excited to share their village homes and customs with you. Discover Fijian plant medicine, in which common plants and trees are used to make tinctures to calm the stomach, or poultices to relieve a burn. Or learn how coconuts have sustained South Pacific peoples for millennia — providing food, oil and fronds that are woven into baskets.
After lunch, journey by solar-powered electric cart and experience the wild beauty of the island. Tour the lush 5-acre garden tended by three full-time staff, visit the joinery artisans who craft the resort’s furnishings, and learn about the “farm of light” where extensive solar installation made Turtle Island one of the first ever clean energy ecotourism resorts in the world.
Once out onto the trails, spy tropical birds flitting in the canopy of trees, and mud crabs scurrying into their burrows. Over the years, the staff and friends have planted more than half a million trees on the island, which was previously denuded. The trees encourage biodiversity, re-establish Indigenous forests, prevent soil erosion, create windbreaks, and add to the natural beauty of this island paradise.
In the evening, enjoy one last special dinner. Every Wednesday*, the resort prepares dinner in an underground oven called a lovo. This is Fiji’s traditional method of cooking — a shallow hole in the sand is filled with stones heated by fire. Atop the stones, wrapped delicacies are layered and cooked until tantalizing scents of the roast emerge.
After dinner, observe traditional “meke”*, a combination of dance and storytelling through song used to hand down Fijian oral history. Typically shared at festive events, you’ll lose yourself in the rhythmic clapping, chanting and beating.

Cap off your unforgettable holiday with a leisurely horse ride over to Long Beach at dawn. Canter along the water’s edge and pause for a champagne toast and breakfast as the sun rises. This morning is sure to stay with you!
When you’re ready, say farewell to your hosts and transfer back Nadi via seaplane to commence your onward journey.
