After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, begin your day with a scenic ride from Borgobrufa along peaceful back roads, passing rolling Umbrian hills, cypress-lined lanes, and, if in season, vibrant red poppies. A gentle climb leads to the charming medieval village of Bevagna, nestled in the Topino River floodplain. This picturesque, walled town is the perfect spot to pause for a leisurely lunch on your own while admiring its stone architecture, Romanesque churches, and ancient Roman ruins.
For those looking to extend their adventure, take a ride to Montefalco—a timeless medieval town shaped like a starfish, complete with five gates leading to a lively central piazza. Wander the historic streets, explore local shops, or browse for Montefalco’s famous handwoven linens. Alternatively, spend more time soaking up the tranquil atmosphere of Bevagna before continuing your journey.
After lunch, choose to bike back to the hotel or hop in the van to enjoy a relaxing afternoon at our Umbrian country retreat. Later, we’ll regroup for a short shuttle to Assisi, the iconic hilltop city and birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi. For dinner, explore one of Assisi’s many excellent restaurants, and if you need suggestions, your Trip Leaders are ready to help!

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel before setting off north on two wheels, leaving behind the Valle Umbra and Assisi. As we head toward Perugia, expect a little more traffic, but the journey is worth it. Fertile farmland, olive groves, and rolling vineyards guide us uphill into a tranquil landscape where shepherds still tend their flocks. Along the way, the peaceful hilltop towns of Pianello and Casacastalda offer stunning views of the Risacco and Rasina valleys, perfect for a photo or a quick caffè break.
Stop for lunch at an 11th-century castle overlooking a lush forest before continuing the ride to Gubbio, the oldest village in Umbria and a cornerstone of the region’s history. This beautifully preserved medieval town, with its stone facades and narrow streets, predates the Roman Empire. Upon arrival, enjoy a wine tasting featuring Umbrian specialties before checking into the Park Hotel Ai Cappuccini. This former stone monastery, now a boutique hotel, is ideal for relaxation. Take a swim, visit the spa, or unwind in your room.
For those seeking a bit more exploration, the Palazzo dei Consoli Museum awaits, home to the fascinating Iguvine Tables. These ancient bronze inscriptions, written in the Umbrian language, date back to the 2nd century BC and detail early regional religious rituals. Whether you choose to explore the museum or simply stroll Gubbio’s enchanting streets and piazzas, the evening is yours to enjoy. Conclude the day with dinner at our favourite osteria and wine shop, where you’ll savour fine Umbrian wines and traditional local dishes.

The day begins with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a picturesque shuttle to Gola del Furlo (Furlo Gorge), a stunning natural gorge in Le Marche, a hidden gem nestled between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. This lesser-known region perfectly complements our Umbria adventure. We kick off our ride along the turquoise waters of the gorge and the historic Via Flaminia, a Roman road winding through the foothills of the Apennines. While Le Marche neighbours Umbria, its landscapes shift dramatically as we approach the sea. We cycle over the Apennine range, passing hilltop villages and golden wheat fields, before descending to the sun-soaked beaches of the Adriatic coast.
Our ride concludes in the lively town of Pesaro, where we continue just outside to Villa Cattani Stuart. Upon arrival, we're greeted by lush gardens and a refreshing pool.
