This morning, depart Kununurra* in the comfort of an airconditioned 4WD to begin your ultimate outback luxury escape. Get a taste of your adventure ahead. Cruise through the wild bush countryside of the Kimberleys and Northern Territory as you twist and turn along the Bullo River teeming with buffalos and crocodiles! Break the journey and stop to enjoy morning tea along the way in true outback style, billy tea and hot damper.
*Alternatively, the sky is the limit to your luxury escape. Arrive at Bullo via a charter plane/helicopter from Kununurra or Darwin providing a stunning panorama that sets up your visit in the most memorable way (available at an additional cost). Take on a different perspective and shorten your travel time.
Arrive to your sanctuary, the Bullo River Station, located on a real working cattle station. You’ll receive a grand welcome and orientation ahead of your afternoon out on location in Bullo River’s wild and wonderful wilderness. Over the next 4 days, traverse into a balance of station life and nature refuge with an abundance of experiences unique to the property. Begin your outback adventure immersing yourself in the dust, sweat and exhilaration of station life with a team of true-blue Aussies. Get out on the station in four-wheels, all-terrain vehicles or even horseback. Help out with bore checks, lick runs, and cattle yard word. Have a go feeding poddy calves and muster training during the dry season. Join a farm tour for a comprehensive masterclass on station life. There are no typical days, you choose your adventure!
After an adventurous day, return back to the homestead in time for refreshing sundowners and dinner at the main lodge. Or treat yourself for a dinner under the stars. Enjoy a locally fresh gourmet meal inspired by the spirit of the Kimberley paired with included beverages of your choice.
Rise and shine! Enjoy breakfast outside on the homestead verandah in the morning sun. This morning embarks on a wildlife expedition capturing the best time to see the wildlife in abundance as they congregate on the water’s edge. Bounded by the Victoria and Bullo Rivers, with abundant waterholes, billabongs and seasonal creeks, Bullo River Station is teeming with wildlife at your doorstep. Enter a wildlife’s paradise as you look out for the residents of the station. Not only home to around 4,000 Brahman-cross cattle, but also a stunning variety of local fauna species including wallabies, dingoes, wild buffalo, a myriad of fish and the omnipresent crocodiles lying in the banks of the Bullo River. For the bird lovers, expect more than 100 resident and migratory bird species, including emus, magpie geese, whistling ducks, wedge-tailed eagles, red wing parrots, brolgas and the elegantly long-legged jabiru.
Next, explore Bullo’s endless landscape on foot on a guided hiking adventure. Walk the trails of cattle and wallabies as you delve deep into billabongs, water holes and river pools. Collide with its wildlife and soak in breathtaking views of the gorges and ridge line. Uncover secret waterfalls and natural swimming pools, perfect for a refreshing afternoon dip. Enjoy tailor-made guided adventures to your interest and level of fitness. Venture further afield by an all-terrain 4WD for an Aboriginal art rock adventure. Start your day letting the world drift past as you quietly cruise up the namesake Bullo River. On a relaxed pace, soak in the pleasurable hours as you glide by the lined mangroves, fig trees and pandanus amongst towering red cliffs. Befriend smaller freshies sunning themselves on the riverbank or a rare greeting from one resident crocodile. With an abundance of exploration ahead, enjoy a packed gourmet lunch with fresh treats to make most of your time out and about.
Continue your water adventures by traversing in a favourite past time of Bullo where there is always time to cast a line. With the wild Bullo river winding an impressive 80km through the station, experience tidal and freshwater fishing. Whether a beginner’s luck or a professional angler, try catch the renowned barramundi. Experienced fishing or none, let your guides show you a local trick or two.
Cap off an exhilarating day of adventure back at the homestead. Drink in the colours of the sunset where a platter of treats and refreshments including beer, wine and spirits await. The vastness of the land and richness of wildlife is an idyllic lure of Bullo that is rather hard to resist! If you’re still feeling wild and adventurous, how about rove the land on horseback? Gallop away into the billabongs and bush tracks taking on a new perspective of the stunning landscape. With the placid nature of the horses, it’s a great way to get really close to wildlife.

- The closest airport is East Kimberley (Kununurra) Regional Airport which services Airnorth and Qantas flights from Broome, Perth and Darwin.
Air Access
- Private charter plane to the Homestead’s airstrip provides best access. From Darwin 90 minutes or Kununurra 30 minutes.
- Helicopter from Darwin 2hrs or Kununurra 40 minutes.
By drive
- From Kununurra is 3-4 hours, from Darwin 9-10 hours and from Katherine is 7-8 hours.
- Due to the Homestead’s remote location, a 4WD vehicle is a must. There is also no mobile phone coverage for the duration of the drive.
East Kimberley has quite a varied weather pattern. April to September is the ‘dry’ season. Temperatures average in the low 30’s where the humidity is low to medium.
October to March sees the ‘wet’ season where temperatures increase as does the humidity due to the rain. The Station can be cut off via road access. Cattle are put to pasture and the Station is manned by a skeleton team.
The wettest months are in January and February and although not the ideal time to be travelling, these months offer some of the most spectacular sights of raging waterfalls, roaring rivers and a land replenished by the rains.

The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
