Located approximately 3-hours’ drive west of Melbourne, the Grampians are a playground for adventurers and a haven for food and wine lovers, with a fascinating Aboriginal story to tell. Rising out of flat farmland, the Grampians National Park is home to an incredible landscape teeming with sheer cliffs, rocky outcrops, cascading waterfalls, and an abundance of native plants and animals.
With qualified and experienced local guides and a group of no more than 10, explore the Grampians Peaks Trail from the beginning without compromising on comfort. The Northern end of the national park is by far the most dramatic part – huge rocky outcrops and sheer sandstone cliffs dominate its dry, sandy gullies and valley floors. Starting at the national park’s northernmost tip – Mount Zero, you’ll scramble to incredible 360-degree views and feel dwarfed by the scale of the landscape. You’ll also visit newly rediscovered waterfalls and Indigenous rock art sites.
This action-packed 4-day package includes 3-nights’ accommodation in a private off-the-grid eco-lodge on a twin share basis. This moderately challenging walk leads through diverse natural landscapes with exhilarating clifftop outlooks on Cape Pillar, Cape Hauy and breathtaking views to Cape Raoul, Tasman Island and further south to Shipstern Bluff and Bruny Island. Your hike will take you past the enormous dunes and crystal clear waters of Crescent Bay, to the summit of Mount Brown, Arthurs Peak and Mount Fortescue. Throughout the trek, you will experience some challenging uphill and downhill sections and traverse some rocky terrain. You will also visit the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, Australia's most intact and evocative convict site, an essential heritage experience offering amazing insights into our nation’s past. The walk culminates in a 3-hour award winning Wilderness Cruise providing an alternative perspective on the striking coastal scenery and wildlife.
Accommodation is included each night at Stewarts Bay Lodge, a 9 hectare (22 acres) property on the shores of Stewarts Bay. The Lodge is surrounded by white-sand beaches, crystal clear ocean waters and beautiful woodlands and takes advantage of spectacular views.
All meals are included for the duration of the walk as well as transfers to and from Hobart. Small groups of ten walkers or less are hosted by two expert guides. All staff are highly experienced and knowledgeable. The walk is fully supported and lodge based. YOU ONLY NEED TO CARRY A DAY PACK.
