The famous track leads through native bush along the ridgeline of hills between the sounds, offering spectacular views in every direction. This manageable itinerary incorporates gorgeous coastal views across native bush, walking between 4 and 8 hours a day. Marlborough Sounds is a collection of ancient sunken river valleys filled with the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Forested hills rise dramatically from the ocean around a winding coastline of sheltered inlets and sandy bays. The area has three main bodies of water - Queen Charlotte, Kenepuru and Pelorous Sounds which offer diverse scenery and shelter the habitats of myriad local bird and animal life.
This is a lodge based walk.
