This 4-day Bay of Fires & Mt William walk incorporates some of Tasmania's most stunning scenery and is almost exclusively beach walking for the first three days. Departing from Launceston, the easy to moderate grade walk begins at the Bay of Fires on the northernmost section of Mount William National Park. From its long beaches to teeming wildlife, unique history and abundant flora, Mt William National Park is a place of constant fascination. From here you'll explore iconic sights such as Boulder Point, Cobbler Rocks, Cod Bay, the pink granite lighthouse at Eddystone Point, and beautiful Anson's Bay across sand and headlands encountering some rocky trails. Throughout the tour you'll admire the rich variety of bird life, with nearly 100 species occurring in the area. This remarkable region is also famed for its spectacular native wildflowers.
Accommodation each night is included in self-contained farm-house style accommodation at Icena Beach House, a short drive of Mt William National Park. Each of the two houses (Icena and Platypus) are air-conditioned, fully furnished 4 bedroom homes. All meals will be prepared for you by your expert guides.

Your adventure begins with an early 8am departure from the Hotel Chancellor in Launceston. Take a scenic journey through the quaint town of Lildayle and Piper River wine region before a short break at the beachside village of Bridport. Head out to the northern section of Mt William National Park and soak in the white sands of Cape Naturaliste where you’ll begin the Bay of Fires beach walk. A gentle walk see’s you traversing the beach enjoying some bird watching and bizarre ocean life discoveries such as urchins and shark eggs along the way. Marvel at The incredibly scenic coastline of deserted white-sand beaches punctuated by windswept headlands, sheltered lagoons and estuaries. Enjoy a picturesque tea break before heading inland ready to tackle the 216 metres ascent of Wukalina (Mt William) summit, the highest point in the area. As you traverse the one hour return walk to the peak, you are afforded with panoramic coastal views where in clear weather the Furneax group of islands stand proud in the horizon.
You’ll stay at a quaint and peaceful self-contained farmhouse. Enjoy a convivial affair over pre-dinner nibbles with fellow travellers before indulging in a delicious 2 course dinner prepared by your guides.

Today sees you walking the longest stretch of your adventure but the scenery is well worth the effort. Begin at Boulder Point striding along endless coastlines boasting idyllic small coves and rocky headlands. Be captivated as you traverse large granite boulders covered in bright orange lichen the region is renowned for. A photographer's paradise, be captivated by the pristine rock pools and striking contrast of palette against white sand beaches and turquoise blue waters. Continue along the remote sandy stretch of Cod Bay before meandering inland journeying along coastal heathland vegetation. For the fortunate souls, Spring boasts a spectacular picturesque scene of endless bright wildflowers and orchids.
Enjoy lunch in a lovely secluded nook and a refreshing swim before striding around a hidden lagoon. Here, keep eyes peeled for wombats and Tasmanian Native Hens, an endemic ground dwelling bird species. A short journey later sees you conquering the end of the walk at Deep Creek where, depending on water levels, see’s you wading across a pristine outlet. Enjoy a lovely afternoon tea and a refreshing dip. If energy and time permits, those adventurous enough can continue a short 20 minutes of idyllic beach walk to the prominent rock formation of Picnic Rocks. Another spectacular show of red lichen covered rocks of Bay of Fires contrasting against the azure waters and pristine white sand.
Cozy back at the farmhouse for a well earned pre dinner nibbles and drinks before a hearty two-course dinner feast.
Walking distance: approximately 10 km (6.2 miles), approx. 4-5 hours walking, Moderate Grade
Today discover endless beauty and treasures that define the region. Begin at Eddystone Point, adorned with a beautifully grand lighthouse built in 1889. Immerse into the site's fascinating historical importance of both European and Aboriginal while discovering the wonderful sites of the area.
Stride along expansive dune swept beaches that often teem with birdlife. Keep an eye out for gulls, terns, albatross and gannets. Journey through picture perfect coves, shelly beaches, marvel at stunning rock formations and swim in pristine small bays before finishing at the beautiful wilderness coastline of Ansons Bay. Soak in the stunning blue water, fishing lagoons, spotless white sandy beaches and more orange lichen granite boulders that characterise the bay. Enjoy a wonderful tea break set amongst a picturesque beach setting before relaxing back on bus.
Unwind back at the farmhouse for a final night celebrating your incredible journey together under a starry night sky.

An early start for your final walking adventure that is a feast for the eyes. Soak in ever changing landscapes of secluded beaches, dark tannin stained lagoons and contrasting stretches of coastline within the Bay of Fires Conservation Area. Begin at Policeman’s Point journeying through sand and meandering the endless coastal cobble stones of Pebbly Beaches. Be captivated by an expanse of white sandy beach so remote you’ll feel like the first ones to step into such a slice of paradise. Revel at granite boulders before enjoying a lunch break with one last refreshing swim. Traverse forested hills and call into The Gardens, the end point of your walking adventure. An ideal spot to savour the tranquility of beach paradise before leaving the orange rocks of Bay of Fires. Journey back to Launceston passing the quaint seaside town of St Helens arriving at approximately 5pm.

In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
