Upon arrival in Puntas Arenas, where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy your leisure time to explore Puntas Arenas, the capital of Magallanes and Antartica Chilena. Located on the straits of Magellan, the city is best known for its port and sheep tradition. Spend the afternoon exploring the bustling city at your own leisure, stroll down the main square and be stunned by the sights of its sophisticated European architecture or dine in its many restaurants bursting of local delights.
Celebrate in union and excitement as you gather and meet your fellow adventurers from 5-7pm during a Welcome Reception and Pre-Embarkation Briefing.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast before a transfer to Punta Arenas airport for a 1 hour 45 minutes charter flight to King George Island, Antarctica, if weather permits.
Upon landing in King George Island, our experienced expedition team will greet you and begin your Zodiac transfer aboard the luxury Greg Mortimer. You’ll have enough time to settle into your cabin before our important briefings. Make yourself feel at home at your well-appointed staterooms with ensuite bathrooms and look out to the ocean in true expedition style via your porthole window.
Gather on deck and take in the sights of this beautiful remote island as you sail away from the port and the real adventure begins.
Note: King George Island is located at the northern part of the Antarctic Peninsula in the South Shetland Islands and is one of the most remote places on Earth. A clear sky with perfect visibility is required for safe take-off and landing so delays may be expected.
The excitement rush of arriving in Antarctica surrounds the entire observation deck as we watch for our first iceberg. Below the Antarctic Convergence is a whole new perspective of the ocean as we are surrounded by ice and making everlasting memories of the sight of your first iceberg and floating ice sculptures while sailing through this freezing ocean.
Marvel at the beauty and breathe the fresh, chilly air of the south pole as we arrive at the West Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands. Delve in the overwhelming feeling of arriving in Antarctica before the real exploration begins.
You will be accompanied by your experienced expedition team, who will engage you in the best different adventures with numerous choices that will leave spell-bounding memories. You will experience approximately 18-24 hours of daylight and the days can be tailor-made just for you and filled with exploration as much as you like.
Make sure you’re all kitted up before landings and Zodiac excursions along grounded icebergs, ice cliffs, and you get to do this, twice a day. Watch out for whales, penguins, seals as they glide in the water. Zodiacs will also transport you ashore, where you can stretch, visit and explore the wildlife in their natural habitat.
Enjoy relaxing time on the observation lounge or the bridge to glimpse the beauty of Antarctica, spot a whale or two as we make our journey towards the east through the Antarctic Sound, gateway to the fortified icy Weddell Sea.
Experience the unique wildlife of the Weddell Sea as we make Zodiac cruises or kayak our way through the ice, sightsee with your expedition team and take pictures of the distinctive Adélie, Chinstrap, Emperor, and Gentoo penguins as they jostle around as well as humpback, orca and minke whales coming in and out of the water.
Take your time to feel the waves of the sea and get comfortable with the motions as we sail through the Drake Passage for a journey back to South America. Savour the time to absorb the majesty of the Southern Ocean and wildlife with lectures and film presentations to complete your Antarctic voyage. Weather and time permitting, your Captain may sail close to the legendary and mystical Cape Horn as you approach the tip of South America.
Watch the beautiful sunrise at the Beagle Channel as we cruise up to the Beagle Channel, take in and appreciate the sights of the dramatic landscape of mountains and glaciers of the Island before swiftly docking in Ushuaia.
You will be free to disembark at 8.00 am, bid farewell to your fellow adventurers, the expedition team, and crew as we all depart and go on our separate journeys. Leaving inspired and connected to the beauty of nature, you will be transferred to your hotel or Ushuaia airport.

The coldest continent on Earth, Antarctica has two seasons: summer and winter. The Antarctica travel season occurs in summer from October to February where you will find average temperatures ranging from -10 degrees Celsius to -60 degrees, depending on how far into the continent you travel. January is the warmest season, with temperatures climbing up to 0 degrees Celsius on the Antarctic Peninsula.

Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
