Upon arrival at Ushuaia, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel where you will be provided with cabin tags. Clearly fill in the cabin tags with your name and ship cabin number.
At approximately 6.00 pm., you’ll gather and meet your fellow voyagers at our briefing. Afterward, enjoy time to explore the local cuisine at one of Ushuaia’s many beautiful restaurants.
Commence formalities with cabin luggage where it will be collected from the hotel and transported directly to the port for clearance and delivered to your cabin on board ahead of your arrival.
Enjoy free time late morning for a brief sightseeing tour before meeting back at the hotel lobby by 2.00 pm. You can also choose to indulge yourself at this leisure time and make your own way back to the Prison Museum car park by 3.45 pm to rejoin the group to be transferred to the pier for embarkation.
Learn the history and absorb the sights in Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego, located at the shores of the Beagle and surrounded by the Martial Mountains giving you the unique view of the landscapes of Argentina which is the combination of seas, glaciers, and forests.
On this tour, you will visit “La Mision”, the old government house, and the upper area of the city where you will get sweeping views of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel. You will also see the ancient houses that belonged to the first families that settled in Ushuaia and end the excursion at the visit to the Old Prison Museum before transferring to the pier for embarkation at approximately 4.00 pm.
After embarking on the vessel, you’ll have time to properly settle in your cabin before our important mandatory briefings. We’ll gather on deck as the ship pulls away from the port to begin our adventure with spectacular views over Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego.
In the evening, you’ll be invited to the Captain’s Welcome dinner where you’ll get acquainted with fellow voyagers, our friendly expert expedition team, and crew to celebrate the beginning of an amazing journey.
Feel the ocean waves and get comfortable with the motions of the sea, watch the wildlife of the sea and take pictures as we see the many birds of the sea like the majestic albatrosses and giant petrels that follow our path as they use the ship’s air currents to gain momentum as they skillfully rise and fall.
On this day, your expert expedition team will prepare you for our first landing with important wildlife guidelines, biosecurity procedures and start our lecture to teach you more about Antarctica’s history, wildlife, and environment. Be captivated watching and photographing the many seabirds including majestic albatrosses and giant petrels following in our wake.
The rush of adrenaline of arriving in Antarctica surrounds the entire observation deck as we near the South Shetland and the tip of Antarctica on this day, watching for our first iceberg. Below the Antarctic Convergence is a whole new perspective as we’re surrounded by ice and sail through this freezing ocean and make everlasting memories of the sight of your first iceberg and the floating ice sculptures on the water.
We may attempt to make our first landing in Antarctica by late afternoon if the weather permits.
Breathe the fresh chilly air of the southernmost region of the earth as we arrive in Antarctica and marvel at the beautiful icy sights of this white continent. Take in the feeling before the real exploration.
The western side of Antarctica and the South Shetlands are ours to explore, with a plethora of exploration choices available to us. You will experience 18-24 hours of daylight this far south and the days can be custom-planned just for you and the days can be filled with adventure as much as you like.
You’ll be accompanied by your adept expedition team, who have made countless journeys to this region, will engage you in the best different activities based on the current weather, ice conditions, and wildlife opportunities.
Ensure you’re all kitted up before landings and Zodiac cruises along grounded icebergs and spectacular ice cliffs. Zodiacs will also transport you to land, along the way you can keep watch for whales, penguins, and seals as they come in and out of the water.
While ashore, we aim to visit penguin rookeries, discover historic huts, saunter along pebbly beaches or hike up to snow-covered ridgelines to vantage points with mountains offering an overhead of ice-ridden oceans below.
Polar plungers will also have the opportunity to dive in polar waters. Other optional activities will also be done if the conditions permit.
We may also sail along dramatic, narrow straits that separate the mainland from the offshore islands. Enjoy the uninterrupted scenic sights of whales traveling and feeding on the bridge to enjoy the amazing views of Antarctica.
Relish the last morning in camp before entry is made again into the Drake Passage for the final return to South America. Enjoy the views of the Southern Ocean and its wildlife on our return.
Lectures and film presentations will be provided to give you an all-around educational experience. You will also have time to relax and discuss with your fellow adventurers about the sights and the experiences.
Our Captain may sail close to the legendary land at the end of the world, Cape Horn as we approach South America.
Watch the beautiful sunrise at the Beagle Channel as we cruise up to the Beagle Channel, take in and appreciate the sights of the dramatic landscape of mountains and glaciers of the Island before swiftly docking in Ushuaia.
You will be free to disembark at 8.00 am, bid farewell to your fellow adventurers, the expedition team, and crew as we all depart and go on our separate journeys where you will be transferred to your hotel or Ushuaia airport.

The coldest continent on Earth, Antarctica has two seasons: summer and winter. The Antarctica travel season occurs in summer from October to February where you will find average temperatures ranging from -10 degrees Celsius to -60 degrees, depending on how far into the continent you travel. January is the warmest season, with temperatures climbing up to 0 degrees Celsius on the Antarctic Peninsula.

We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid.
