More than 25 wineries are within driving distance, including the internationally famous Neudorf Vineyards, which specialises in New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.
Built in 1854, Warwick House has a fascinating history that is alive and well today. Originally known as “Sunnyside”, the House was once home to a well-known merchant before operating as a “Gentleman’s boarding house” and a series of apartments. In 2003, the House was purchased by its current owners Nick and Jenny Ferrier, who worked hard to restore the building to its original grandeur.
Warwick House is one of the largest and finest examples of early Victorian Gothic Revivalist architecture remaining in New Zealand. It is also believed to be the oldest substantial family residence in the South Island. All ceilings, walls, weatherboards and most doors are solid Kauri, and the Ballroom features an immaculate native Matai dancing floor. Finds during the renovations over the past 10 years include a hidden wine cellar, four grand archways, a set of internal stairs and more.
