Morning: approx. 4 hour easy walking in the Flinders Chase National Park; Afternoon: approx. 2.5 hour easy wildlife walk
Embark on the Wonders of Kangaroo Island expedition and surrender to a world of spectacular wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and fascinating maritime heritage. Your journey begins as you venture west from the lodge, entering the vast, untamed frontier of Flinders Chase National Park.
Your first encounter with this rugged beauty is at Admirals Arch, where the historic Cape du Couedic Lighthouse and its keeper’s cottages stand as silent sentinels against the sky, offering a timeless photo opportunity. Imagine the stories held within these walls, built in 1906 from 2,000 pieces of local stone, a testament to survival where even food supplies were winched up a sheer 92-metre cliff.
Follow a winding boardwalk as it descends towards the coast, offering views of the remote Casuarina Islands before revealing the enchanting fur seal colony at Admirals Arch. Here, you will witness these graceful creatures frolicking in natural rock pools, surfing the Southern Ocean swell, or basking in the sun, their bodies perfectly camouflaged against the ancient stones. The arch itself, a magnificent natural grotto, provides a sheltered stage for the seals' playful antics—a truly captivating scene for photographers and dreamers alike.
The adventure continues to one of Kangaroo Island’s signature landmarks: the Remarkable Rocks. This extraordinary cluster of time-sculpted granite boulders, adorned with black mica, blue quartz, and pink feldspar, rests majestically atop a granite outcrop. Bathed in the golden orange glow of lichen, these natural sculptures offer a fantastical setting for photography, inviting you to wander through their arches and crevices, discovering artistic angles and moments of pure wonder.
After a delectable lunch back at the lodge, the afternoon beckons you to meet the island’s gentle inhabitants. On the Koalas and Kangas tour, you will journey to the Hanson Bay Sanctuary, a privately-owned 5,000-acre conservancy where native wildlife thrives. Stroll along the Koala Walk among towering eucalyptus trees, where you can observe a sustainable population of koalas in their natural habitat. As the golden hour descends, watch the endemic Kangaroo Island Kangaroos emerge to graze while you sip premium South Australian beverages from our exclusive pop-up bush bar. Surrounded by the profound stillness of the bush, let the landscape’s isolated beauty envelop you in a moment of quiet reflection.
As dusk settles, return to the Great Room to share the day's magical experiences over sunset drinks. Indulge in a daily-changing dinner menu that celebrates the finest local and regional ingredients, each dish perfectly paired with exquisite local wines, bringing a perfect close to a day of unforgettable exploration.

Here, you will witness the raw beauty of nature as pups frolic in the surf, majestic bulls claim their territory, and mothers rest upon the sand—a rare and intimate encounter with an endangered species in its natural sanctuary.
As the sun arcs across the sky, descend into the subterranean wonders of the Kelly Hill Caves. This ancient labyrinth of sinkholes and caverns, forged over millions of years, reveals a shimmering world of fragile rock formations. A dynamic light show illuminates the depths, casting a magical glow over towering stalagmites and multicolored stone shawls, inviting you to journey back through geological time.
As twilight blankets the island, return to the refined warmth of the lodge for "A Taste of South Australia."
