Escape to The Coromandel from the heart of Auckland on a 2-hour scenic ferry cruise with 360 Discovery through the islands of the Hauraki Gulf.
After arriving at Coromandel Town you will have the choice to relax over lunch at one of the many local cafes, stroll around the township and head over the hills for a walk to the sensational New Chums Beach. New Chums Beach is a beautiful stretch of pristine, golden beach that's not much visited mainly because it is only accessible by foot or boat. New Chums Beach is ranked as one of the most beautiful undeveloped beaches on the planet. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the sand (1.5 km) and watch and spot the marine life. Relax and absorb the natural beauty amidst the bird and marine life that thrives within this precious ecosystem.
Then step into the tranquility of the forests and enjoy an afternoon guided tour to one of Coromandel’s most majestic Kauri Groves. Your experienced local guides unfold the story of The Coromandel Kauri amidst the giants of the past.
The dinner today is at your own arrangement and expense. Coromandel Town is home to a large selection of award winning cafes and restaurants which provide a wide range of dishes inspired by the fresh local produce available.

Relish a delicious breakfast in the alfresco dining area of the lodge, surrounded by native bush and birdsong.
Start the day by choosing a young Kauri or other native seedling to plant to help restore the great forests of the past. If tree planting is not possible, a donation to support the Coromandel Kauri Dieback Project or Kauri 2000 will be made in lieu of the activity.
Adventure out into the dramatic and remote landscape of the Northern Coromandel to walk the highly acclaimed Coromandel Coastal Walkway - one of the best coastal walks in the country. Begin this great coastal hike passing through coastal forest before heading along the cliff-tops and farmlands with views of Great Barrier Island and the Pacific Ocean. The views from the track of Mt. Moehau are well worth the climb. This stretch of coastline offers all the dramatic views that encapsulate the Coromandel.
After being picked up at Fletcher Bay a sensational short walk is available for those eager for more. Feast on the spectacular coastline and ancient groves of Pohutukawa as you return to Coromandel down the western coastline in the beautiful evening light.
Return to the charm of Coromandel Town, renowned for great local cafes, restaurants and local art. The dinner today is at your own arrangement and expense.
Walking distance: 15 - 17 km, approx. 5 - 7 hours walking (Moderate Grade).
Enter the hidden world of the Kauaeranga Valley, home to the majestic Pinnacles range. The entire length of the Coromandel Peninsula was once a chain of volcanic cones. This chain has since been eroded and weathered to form the spectacular series of outcrops you see today.
The Pinnacles Trail (Kauaeranga Kauri Trail) traverses steep and rugged country along tracks built by kauri bushmen between 1870's & 1920's up to the top. The Pinnacles Trail climbs through re-generating kauri forest, passing one of NZ's best preserved kauri dams, eventually cresting the top of the range to reach the Pinnacles Hut. From the hut, a scramble to the top of the Pinnacles rock formation rewards you with 360° views of the entire Coromandel Peninsula and beyond.
A fabulous day is topped off with a celebratory meal at one of Coromandel town's fine restaurants at your own expense.
The last day's walks are on the Eastern side of the Peninsula, with the day planned according to the low tide time at Hot Water Beach. You can dig your own spa pool in the sand and relax in the natural springs. A truly unique Kiwi experience!
In addition to time in the unique self-dug beach spas at Hot Water Beach, stunning views of the Coromandel coast guide you to the dramatic cliffs and iconic rock archway of Cathedral Cove. The Cathedral Cove Walk (2.5 km return) is one of best short walks. Follow the well-graded path as it follows the headland from Hahei and begins descending steadily into the Gemstone Bay valley. Optional walk to Te Pare Point with additional 40min.
Stop off to enjoy scenic and historic lookouts on the way as we take a leisurely drive back to Auckland.

The Coromandel does not have very distinct seasons. As the region has a lengthy coastline it enjoys a subtropical/oceanic climate with year-round moderate temperatures and no particular rainy season. This makes it an excellent destination for those who wish to experience nature up close, relax, and explore the untouched beauty to be found here.Temperatures in The Coromandel reach between 24 - 31°C in the summer months and average around 12 - 14°C in the middle of winter.

The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
