Our journey begins in the vibrant city of St. John's, where we’ll stroll through the iconic Jellybean Row neighbourhood, known for its brightly colored houses resembling jellybeans, and the historic Battery Village. Accompanied by a local historian and guide, you'll hear captivating stories about the area's rich history. From the harbour, we’ll continue along dramatic cliffside paths, ascending to the summit of Signal Hill. If you're visiting in July or August, keep an eye out for dolphins or whales playing just off the shore.
Our morning walk concludes in the charming fishing village of Quidi Vidi. Take time to explore this idyllic community nestled in the picturesque Quidi Vidi harbour before enjoying a hearty lunch at one of our favourite local spots.
In the afternoon, we embark on a scenic drive to the quintessential Newfoundland village of Port Rexton. This picturesque town, often chosen as the setting for period films, feels like stepping back in time to the 1850s. Here, you’ll settle into your cozy guest room at Fishers’ Loft Inn, a property inspired by the region’s traditional wooden architecture. Every detail of the inn reflects Newfoundland’s cultural heritage.

After breakfast, embark on a breathtaking hike along the renowned Skerwink Trail. Following the crystal-clear aquamarine waters of the Atlantic, the winding path takes you through lush greenery and showcases why this trail is celebrated as one of North America’s top 35 hikes by Travel + Leisure. Along the way, admire the dramatic sea stacks, soaring cliffs, and vibrant wildflowers (when in season). If you're visiting in May or June, you might even spot majestic icebergs drifting on the horizon.
Pause midday to recharge with a freshly prepared lunch featuring produce straight from the Fishers’ Loft garden. Afterward, continue your journey to Fox Island, where a short shuttle leads to a scenic coastal loop. Here, enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding communities and local wildlife. The afternoon walk concludes in the charming fishing village of Champney’s West, known for its colorful fishing stages and authentic maritime character.

If you’re visiting in late summer, you might even stumble upon wild blueberries along the path—a sweet reminder of Newfoundland’s natural beauty.
This afternoon, we set off for Farewell Harbour, en route to the extraordinary Fogo Island. For the next three nights, you’ll call the renowned Fogo Island Inn home. This architectural masterpiece, crafted with ethically sourced materials, feels like a retreat to one of the world’s most remote corners. Each room features stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, offering uninterrupted views of the vast ocean. Beyond its beauty, the inn is deeply rooted in community values, reinvesting all profits to support the people and future of Fogo Island.
In between exploration, dine, rest and relax at the opulently futuristic, Fogo Island Inn. Set up in a dramatic location for rural retreat seekers in a traditional fishing village, stay in one of 29 suites. Start your day with a delicious breakfast while soaking in breathtaking ocean views from the main dining room. This morning, we’ll shuttle to Sandy Cove and set off on a scenic hike through the forests and charming community of Tilting. Stroll along the stunning coastal path, where grassy meadows, pristine beaches, and dramatic cliffs create an unforgettable backdrop.
Our hike concludes at Foley’s Shed, where we’ve been invited to experience authentic Newfoundland hospitality. Chat with our local hosts and hear their stories of island life while enjoying a farm-to-table lunch that celebrates the region’s rich culinary traditions.
After lunch, unwind back at the hotel or take a shuttle to Oliver’s Cove trailhead. Here, you can wander through lush meadows, marvel at unique rock formations, and discover thriving gardens and captivating local art installations.
As evening falls, gather for another exceptional dinner in the hotel’s dining room. Alongside fresh seafood and produce, you’ll find “time” is the island’s secret ingredient, showcased through the art of bottling, pickling, and fermentation.

Our day begins with a short shuttle to the charming community of Fogo, where we embark on an unforgettable hike along the Lion’s Den Trail. This scenic route weaves through historic cart tracks and footpaths, framed by lush greenery, tranquil ponds, and marshlands. Along the way, we pass through four resettled communities, offering a glimpse into Fogo Island's rich history. Keep an eye out for wild red foxes, often seen darting across the hills.
The trail guides us through the long-abandoned settlements of Eastern Tickle and Lion’s Den, evoking a sense of nostalgia and wonder. Take a moment to pause at Pilley’s Head, Oakes Hill, or Lane’s Lookout, where sweeping panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean await. If time permits, we’ll step inside the Marconi Museum to explore Fogo Island’s fascinating role in the history of early communications.
After a satisfying lunch to recharge, we take another short shuttle to Fogo Head for an afternoon stroll. The landscape here, with its treeless heath and vibrant heather, evokes the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands. As we ascend, we’re rewarded with breathtaking, windswept views of the coastline and the picturesque community of Fogo below.
After descending from Fogo Head, you may find yourself yearning for a moment of repose after the day’s invigorating explorations. This is the perfect opportunity to indulge in the serene luxury of the Fogo Island Inn's spa. Perched atop rugged cliffs, the spa offers panoramic views of the endless ocean and jagged shoreline, creating an ambiance of serene isolation. The Fogo Island Inn's spa is an exquisite sanctuary where the spirit of the North Atlantic meets unparalleled indulgence. In the evening, we gather at the Inn to celebrate our maritime adventures with a farewell reception and dinner.

Later, we’ll ferry to Farewell Harbour before embarking on a scenic drive to Gander International Airport and St. John’s. Along the way, savor a packed lunch as you take in the beautiful surroundings. Upon arrival at your drop-off location, you’ll have time to bid farewell to your trip leaders and reflect on your journey. Drop off the Gander International Airport or the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland can be arranged.
