From Derby, take flight in a turbo-prop jet seaplane over the massive tidal plains, the rugged McLarty Ranges and the thousand islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Your destination is the Horizontal Falls, an astonishing and unique ‘sideways’ waterfall that David Attenborough once described as “one of the greatest natural wonders of the world”. Touching down in the calm waters of Talbot Bay, set off on an exhilarating high-speed boat ride through the falls followed by a relaxing cruise of the surrounding area.
This one-of-a-kind 4-day self-drive package includes 3-nights’ accommodation Broome, Derby and Talbot Bay on a twin share basis. Welcome to Broome, the gateway to the Kimberley!
Spend the rest of the day settling into your luxury studio and making use of the 4.5-star facilities including two swimming pools, 5 restaurants/dining options and the Chahoya Spa & Salon. You may also like to head down to the famous Cable Beach to witness a spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean.
After breakfast, an air-conditioned coach transports you to Willie Creek for their multi award-winning pearl farm tour.
The tour starts with the collection and spawning of oysters in the state-of-the-art hatchery, then moves on to the delicate operations of seeding and harvesting oysters, and finally the valuing of pearls and the creation of magnificent jewellery. During the tour, you’ll cruise Willie Creek’s azure waters and observe live oysters in their natural environment as well as other native flora and fauna. You’ll also enjoy morning or afternoon tea as well as a delicious lunch at the Harvest Café (from April to October due to seasonality).
At the end of the tour, you’ll be transferred back to Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, where you may commence the two-hour drive from Broome to Derby.
You’ll stay the night at Derby’s iconic Spinifex Hotel. Enjoy a meal at the onsite restaurant (your cost) before retiring to your room for the evening.

After a lazy morning in Derby, a courtesy bus picks you up from your accommodation and transfers you to a 14-seater turbo prop seaplane for a thrilling low-level flight over the massive tidal planes, the rugged McLarty Ranges and the thousand islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Your destination is the Horizontal Falls that were once described by David Attenborough as “one of the greatest natural wonders of the world”.
Touching down in Talbot Bay, set off on a heart-thumping high-speed boat ride through the falls followed by a relaxing cruise through the surrounding bays and untouched creek system. While you’re here, you’ll have the chance to land a big one during an exclusive fishing charter and swim in a marine viewing cage, where you will get up close to the local marine life while your guide points out the many species of fish and inquisitive sharks (snorkelling gear provided).
Wind down after an action-packed day in a luxury houseboat in the peaceful seclusion of Talbot Bay. Savour sunset drinks and nibbles on the rooftop bar or relax in the private lounge before feasting on a delicious dinner including catch of the day and quality local produce.
Wake up to a delicious cooked breakfast before boarding the seaplane for your flight back to Derby. Upon landing, head back to the Spinifex Hotel to pick up your vehicle and commence your onward journey.

You can fly to Broome daily from any capital city in Australia, via Perth. There are also weekly seasonal direct flights from Sydney Melbourne and Darwin.
Located in northwest Western Australia, Broome has two distinct seasons – high season and summer season. The summer season welcomes warmer weather with increased humidity and odds of dramatic tropical rains and lightning storms. The high season, meanwhile, runs from April to September and is the most popular time to travel. The days are warm and balmy, with low humidity and clear blue skies.
Weight restrictions: All guests must declare their weight at time of booking. The seaplane cannot carry guests over 120kg. You will be weighed at the airport and if you are over your declared weight you may be refused boarding and no refund will be issued.
Children: Bookings are not accepted for children under 4 years of age.
Pregnancy: The boat ride through the Horizontal Falls may not be suitable for women who are more than 26 weeks pregnant. Any women joining our tour whilst in any stage of pregnancy should seek their doctor’s approval prior to travel.
Guarantee of passage: The Horizontal Falls are a natural phenomenon which are influenced by fluctuating tides that vary daily. For safety reasons we cannot guarantee passage through the narrow gap on all days.
Neap tides: The Horizontal Falls are a natural phenomenon influenced by fluctuating tides that vary daily. As this is the case, operations only take place when the predicted tidal movements are not neap, to avoid taking guests out when there is the least difference between high and low tide. Neap tides block out dates can be found on the Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures website or rate sheet.
Onlyluxe Travel acts as travel agency and work with different tour operators.Payment DetailAll pricing is in Australian dollars and are quoted on a per person twin share basis. A supplementary price is available (see below). Bookings are not confirmed until full payment and the signed Booking Form has been received by Onlyluxe Travel.A non-refundable 30% deposit is payable within 7 days of your booking, with the final balance due 60 days prior to departure. If a booking is made 60 days or less before departure, the full payment is payable immediately. Last minute bookings are payable before arrival. Failure to pay on time may result in automatic cancellation of a booking with cancellation penalties payable to Onlyluxe Travel. The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
