Today, we venture into the second captivating country of our journey: Austria. Your introduction to this ancient Alpine nation begins just across the border, where your bicycle awaits in the breathtaking Achental valley. Our morning ride guides you along the tranquil shore of the Achensee, a lake renowned for its dramatic setting between steep, fjord-like mountain walls. From there, we'll pedal up a narrow, wooded valley, flanked by the majestic, rocky peaks of the Karwendel Alps, before arriving at the waterfront village of Pertisau. Here, a ferry will glide you across the water to our enchanting lunch destination.
After your meal, the afternoon presents a choice. You may lace up your boots to explore the valley on foot, following a secluded hiking trail that runs parallel to the lake's shimmering expanse. Alternatively, you can board the ferry for an early return, indulging in some extra time to relax by the beach. Once the hikers have returned, we will all travel together to our magnificent Relais & Châteaux hotel for the night. Settle into your cozy-chic room and allow the sprawling spa to beckon, perhaps moving from the warmth of the sauna to the invigorating hot tub and cold plunge. A restorative massage may also be calling your name (please note that spa treatments are not included in the trip price, and we recommend advance reservations).
This evening, you are invited to stroll into the adorable village centre of Neustift im Stubaital. Its charming square, lined with inviting taverns and ski chalets, offers a wealth of delightful options for a dinner on your own. The climate of the Alps changes dramatically with the seasons, offering different experiences in Bavaria, Tyrol, and the Dolomites throughout the year.
