After about an hour and half, the cycle ends at the junction leading down to Pasir Putih, a clear white sandy beach with beautiful views.
This afternoon, you will embark on a scenic ride from Putung Village to the beach.
Enjoy the rest of afternoon at the Beach Club. There are Hobie Cat, kayaks, boogie boards and SUPs for you to enjoy with compliments. Within the region of East Bali there is a tradition called "Megibung". This translates to "sharing a meal from one platter". It is shared at festive and ceremonial occasions, often presented with "nasi Tumpeng". Nasi Tumpeng is a cone of rice, which represents Gunung Agung (Mt. Agung) where the Hindu Mother Temple of Besakih is located. Surrounding the cone of rice are a variety of Balinese dishes celebrating the quality and abundance of food that the island provides.
Enjoy a traditional Balinese feast tonight.
Walking distance: approx. 4 hours, easy to moderate grade
After a hearty breakfast, take another trek in East Bali.
Your trek will begin in the ancient village of Tenganan, home to one of only 2 Bali Aga (original Balinese) villages in Bali. The traditions & ceremonies pre-date the 16th century Majapahit Empire and are unique to this village. Tenganan is also famous for a double woven ikat material called kain geringsing that is believed to have magical powers. From there you will climb up to a ridge with 360 degree views of rice fields. You will navigate your way along the rice fields over a river and then start the walk through many villages to the water palace of Tirta Gangga. The one hectare complex was built in 1946 by the late king of Karangasem but was destroyed almost entirely by the eruption of nearby Mount Agung in 1963. It has been lovingly re-built and restored and has an air of authentic royal magnificence. The centerpiece of the palace is an eleven tiered fountain and there are many beautiful carvings and statues adorning the gardens.
Dinner tonight is at your own arrangement and expense. We offer complimentary pickup and dropoff in Candidasa area.
Walking distance: approx. 6 hours, moderate to hard grade
A challenging hike for fabulous views.
Mount Agung, towering over 3,000 meters above sea level, has a spiritual significance to the Balinese people and is home to the mother temple of Besakih.
Climbing Mount Agung is the "royal" discipline of climbing in Bali and is not for those who are after a "leisure" climb or suffering from vertigo. It requires a much higher level of fitness and climbing experience than Mount Batur for example.
Sunrise trail: you climb would start directly at Pasar Agung Temple (60 minutes drive from Amankila) at the altitude of 1,700 meters and brings you up to 3,00 meters. The trail would take between 4 - 5 hours of strenuous climbing to reach the summit. A less strenuous route is available and would take 6 hours to reach the summit.
Dinner tonight is a truly magical experience up in the hills. The evening will start with a beautiful drive through the countryside arriving at bale Tirta Sari to enjoy the spectacular view over the rice fields. You will arrive to a candlelit pathway, which leads you across a peanut plantation to a bale where your own private chef and waiter will pamper you. As you relax in the bale, your chef will prepare a delicious authentic Balinese satay feast including Balinese urab, a variety of satay, followed by a delicious dessert to be savoured while the sun is setting.
Enjoy a leisure stroll on the private black-sand beach, taking in the breathtaking stretch of coastline on the Lombok Strait. Or enjoy one of the frangipani-lined walkways through the treetops. As rich and colourful as East Bali is above the waves, its offshore realm is perhaps even more spectacular. With pristine reefs ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving, the coastline also offers superb surfing, fishing and cruising opportunities. From mountain to ocean, you will fully immersion in the unique East Bali's landscapes.
