The Flinders Ranges stands as an ancient natural monument crafted by millions of years of geological activity. This incredible outback region offers some of Australia's most spectacular scenery. The Flinders Ranges is the largest mountain range in South Australia and lies about 200km north of Adelaide. On this 5-day walking tour, you’ll visit many renowned landmarks including Wilpena Pound, the Heysen Trail, Brachina Gorge and Alligator Gorge. From the air, Wilpena Pound looks like a crater, an enormous bowl almost 100 kilometres (62 miles) wide that towers above the surrounding plains. A geological marvel that has remained in place since long before the dawn of mankind. During this tour you will also trek a section of the Heysen Trail which stretches over 1,200km in its entirety between Parachilna Gorge and Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Experience the Flinders Ranges wildlife and rugged landscapes where native animals and hundreds of bird species are in abundance.
At the end of each day’s hiking, you will return to your luxury eco accommodation at Rawnsley Park Station. Overlooking the southern side of Wilpena Pound, Rawnsley Park Station provides the perfect base for exploring this magnificent region.
