You begin your journey in Esperance, enjoy an arrival dinner and explore the delightful country town. Over the next few days explore Cape Le Grand National Park, known for its picturesque beaches and stunning scenery and embark on the Cape Le Grand Coastal Trai. Conquer Frenchman’s Peak, named after its resemblance to French troop hats in the 1800s and boasting incredible vistas of all the beaches of Cape Le Grand along with the nearby Recherche Archipelago. Next you will be taken to Hopetoun, the easter gateway to Fitzgerald River National Park and climb East Mount Barren. This tour has a focus on walking, with walks of various lengths, in remote and wild areas. Each evening we will return to nearby accommodation, so there is no need to carry heavy packs or sleep rough. Two guides will accompany you on the tour and one, or both, will walk with you each day. There are some steep sections, and a few beach stretches (although they’re mostly firm) and training is recommended.
During your walking tour you will be staying at a variety of different accommodations. For the first three nights you will be staying at the comfortable Island View Apartments in Esperance only a short walk from town. You will stay in 2 and 3 bedroom chalets, where you have the opportunity to mingle as well as have your own space. For three night’s you will be staying at the Hopetoun motel, spread between several motel rooms and 2-bedroom chalet where you will share meals with fellow walkers.

Add A Guide
You can choose to have a local guide for your first day. The local guide will explain this significant historical area as well as provide detailed information on the trail and general track advice. You are then well equipped to continue on your way for the remainder of your self-guided walk. Additional cost: $250 per person.
Orientation
The local staff will give you an orientation of the tour when you arrive at Kii-Tanabe station. The staff will supply you with maps, bus timetables and brief you on your itinerary. The staff will explain cultural elements such as how to use a bath and purchase bus tickets if need be as well as answer any last minute questions.
Dual Pilgrim
This walk is qualified for "Dual Pilgrim". We provide official Dual Pilgrim Credential - a type of passport for pilgrims. It is used to collect stamps along the trail as a record of the walk. There are two sides, one for the Kumano Kodo and one for the Way of St. James.Please read the details in the section of Dual Pilgrim at the bottom of this page.
