The Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia High Flyers Gourmet Trail is an epic food and wine adventure taking in the incredible sights, sounds and flavours of some of Australia’s famous southern wine regions, by an private aircraft.  This six night, all-inclusive escape is a guided tour through the ultimate in gastronomic delights across South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

DAY ONE

Your adventure begins in Melbourne when you will board your luxury private aircraft and make your way to the famous Barossa Valley in South Australia.  Here you will enjoy a stop at Maggie Beer’s Pheasant Farm before arriving at Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre.

Jacob’s Creek is one of Australia’s most recognised wine brands with a history that spans three centuries.  In their outdoor kitchen, you will participate in a cooking class using the freshest produce from the kitchen garden.

After your cooking class you will enjoy a leisurely lunch matched with Jacob’s Creek wines.

 

Seppeltsfield is the only winery in the world to release a 100 year old single vintage wine each year since 1851. The next stop on your Gourmet Trail will include a tour through the Seppeltsfield Centenary Cellar where these historic wines are housed as well as a tasting and dinner at the renowned FINO restaurant.

DAY TWO

After breakfast, your first stop on Day 2 is the iconic Penfolds Magill Estate.

 

Hear the inspiring stories of Australia’s first winemaking dynasty as you are guided through the Penfolds’ original family homestead. Explore the heritage-listed winery, 65-year-old shiraz vineyard and underground maturation cellars, before enjoying a tasting of Penfolds’ luxury wines, including Penfolds Grange.

From here, continue by road to the picturesque Adelaide Hills, the home of The Lane Vineyard.

 

In 1993 John and Helen Edwards realised their dream of producing single vineyard wines on this site.  Discover their journey through a guided tour and tasting of their elegant cool climate wines, followed by a vertical tasting in the vineyard block where the grapes are grown.

A private cheese making tour and tasting at Udder Delights is your final stop before checking into your overnight accommodation at the boutique Stirling Hotel where you will enjoy a relaxed barbecue dinner.

 

DAY THREE

Travelling again by road, you will be taken south of Adelaide to McLaren Vale, famous for its intensely flavoured Shiraz and nested between rolling hills and a stunning coastline.

Another interactive experience awaits you here at d’Arenberg. At the ‘Blending Bench’ you will play winemaker for the morning, using a palette of wine parcels, each with distinctive flavours and textures, to create a blend that is truly unique to your tastes.

 

Your private aircraft will collect you from the nearby Aldinga airfield and make its way across the border to Victoria. Enjoy an airborne view of the mighty 12 Apostles, a late lunch feasting on fresh, locally caught crayfish followed by a guided ground tour of the 12 Apostles before returning to your aircraft for the brief flight to the Yarra Valley.

Arrive at the historic Chateau Yering, your overnight accommodation, and relax with a light local produce platter in your Garden Suite.

 

DAY FOUR

Arise before dawn for an unforgettable morning enjoying the sweeping views of Yarra Valley vineyards from a hot air balloon.

Next, arrive at the renowned De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate. Learn the fine art of winemaking on a tour the vineyard and winery tasting wines maturing in barrels then undertake a tutored tasting of the De Bortoli Yarra Valley estate grown range.

Your private aircraft will then deliver you to Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.  On arrival, travel by road to Montalto Vineyard and Olive Grove for an Estate to Plate gourmet indulgence.  A guided exploration, of this family owned estate, will show you the best of the seasonal cycle at Montalto. The Estate’s working vineyard and olive grove, kitchen gardens, fruit orchards, berry plantation and sculpture park provides a unique visitor experience.

Return to your aircraft for a flight to Hobart, Tasmania, and check in to the luxurious MONA Pavilions and dinner at The Source restaurant.

 

DAY FIVE

After a leisurely start to the day with free time to explore Hobart, you travel by ferry to Moorilla Estate and MONA (Museum of Old and New Art), exploring the unique synergy of wine and art.  Enjoy the influence of art and site upon hand-crafted, premium wines, with your host providing an overview of the history of the region and winery.

Enjoy a leisurely three-course lunch with matching wine, spend some time exploring the incredible and diverse art collection at MONA and enjoy another night’s accommodation in your MONA Pavilion.

 

DAY SIX

After breakfast you will be collected from the MONA heli-pad for your Jet Ranger scenic helicopter ride to Saffire Freycinet with breathtaking views of Wineglass Bay prior to landing.

Settle into your suite at Saffire, before lunch and enjoy some more free time to relax, perhaps with a massage or walk along the beach.

 

In the late afternoon you will be treated to a stunning sunset and oyster shucking experience, followed by an unforgettable dinner at one of the best restaurants in Australia.

 

DAY SEVEN

A postcard view of Wineglass Bay greets you this morning at the summit of your scenic hike.  Next, relax with a well-deserved lunch overlooking the vineyard at Josef Chromy Wines, just outside Launceston.   Your afternoon tour of the vineyard and winery includes an introduction to fly-fishing where you will learn the art of fly casting, and gain an introduction to this fascinating pass-time.
