This exclusive 2-day self-drive package includes 1-nights’ luxury accommodation at The Shack on a twin share basis. Overlooking rolling vines to the Richmond Range, this highly exclusive and luxurious self-contained guest house was developed by award-winning New Zealand architects and constructed from natural materials including weathered steel, wood, stone and glass. Inside, it showcases the best New Zealand art and design, with open living spaces and four double ensuite bedrooms that reflect the local environment. Self-drive through pristine coastal landscapes and valleys of vines to Cloudy Bay’s Marlborough Cellar Door, located approximately 25 minutes from Picton. You will be greeted with stunning views over the vineyards towards the Richmond Ranges, which were the inspiration for the Cloudy Bay label.
Your Cloudy Bay experience begins with a private tour of the vineyard, an introduction into the world of Cloudy Bay’s ‘terroirs’. Journey to the preferred vineyard sites in a restored 1985 Land Rover Defender and learn about the different types of soil and microclimates that make up Cloudy Bay’s signature varietals. The tour includes a flute of Pelorus NV overlooking the Wairau Valley.
After the tour, head into either The Treehouse or The Shack for a private tailored wine tasting. Your host will tailor the experience to your preferences including some rare or back vintage wines (7-9 wines), while you learn more about the Cloudy Bay stories and history. You will also visit the Pinot Noir Barrel Hall.
After 3:00pm, settle into your luxury accommodation at Cloudy Bay’s ‘The Shack’. Usually invite-only, this luxurious, self-contained guesthouse comes with a fully equipped kitchen, lounge with suspended fireplace and an opulent dining space. Shack supplies include a full selection of Cloudy Bay wines, gourmet snacks and local beer.
Your Cloudy Bay experience culminates with a special “Epicurean Experience” dinner, a perfectly orchestrated food and wine journey featuring locally sourced produce and specially paired Cloudy Bay wines. Because much of the Marlborough region is sheltered by high country to the west, south and in some areas to the east, it is New Zealand's sunniest region. Warm, dry and settled weather predominates during summer. Winter days often start with a frost, but are usually mild overall. Typical summer daytime maximum air temperatures range from 20°C to 26°C, but occasionally rise above 30°C. Late winter and early spring is normally the most unsettled time of the year. Typical winter daytime maximum air temperatures range from 10°C to 15°C. Annual hours of sunshine average at least 2,400 hours.

The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
