After a hearty breakfast, we gather outside for a quick briefing before setting off on an unforgettable day of hiking. Today, we’ll use high alpine trains to access breathtaking trails near the Matterhorn and Gornergrat Glacier. The morning begins with a hike along a steep, well-maintained trail overlooking Zermatt. Passing the serene glacial Riffelsee, the trail leads us to the stunning ridge of the Gornergrat. Pause for lunch in this alpine paradise—if you listen closely, you might hear the distant groans and shifts of the glacier. Afterward, you can continue hiking to the summit of Gornergrat or opt for a cog railway ride from Rotenboden station to the top. Once back at the hotel, unwind with some well-deserved relaxation. Whether it’s a massage, the sauna or a soak in the pool with stunning Matterhorn views, the choice is yours.
For those seeking more adventure, take the Monte Rosa route, which descends toward the Gorner Glacier before climbing the back side of Gornergrat to the summit. In the evening, we’ll gather for a farewell reception followed by a celebratory final dinner to cap off an incredible journey.
Enjoy one last breakfast with sensational views before we descend to Zermatt by train. Upon arrival, we’ll meet a local guide for an informative tour of this famous car-free, high-alpine town.
