The Cape to Cape track is located in Australia's South-West, in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. The track covers 135km of coast line from Cape Naturaliste (near Yallingup) in the North, to Cape Leeuwin (near Augusta) in the South. Located within the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, the track winds along pristine beaches and dramatic coastal cliffs, as well as through coastal bush that comes alive with wildflowers in the Spring. The magnificent karri trees of Boranup forest provide a great contrast, and Cape Leeuwin, which is also the meeting point of two oceans - the Indian and Southern - provides a unique terminus to the track.
The terrain is a combination of white sand, limestone cliffs, granite rock, old 4WD tracks, sealed paths and bushy track. The sections of the Cape to Cape track used for the tour are rated as moderate, with a couple of easier sections around Sugarloaf Rock and Boranup forest providing a breather.
For the nature lover, there is no shortage of wildlife and plant variety on the Cape to Cape track. The area is a world biodiversity hotspot, with approximately 80% of the plant life found nowhere else in the world. There are magnificent wildflowers along the track in Spring and an abundance of birdlife year round. This tour has been designed for active people with a love of nature and a bit of an adventurous streak. For the most part the walks are not particularly long however they do require walking over a lot of rocks which can be challenging for some people not used to balancing. This is however something that can be improved prior to the tour.
During your tour you will be staying at a range of campsites in comfort. You will enjoy the privacy and use of your own semi-permanent tent as well as a knee-high stretcher bed and mattress. For persons travelling in pairs, you may choose to share a tent. You will need to bring your own pillow and sleeping bag.
