While you enjoy the thrills of hiking and camping with just a day pack, your guides will transfer, set up camp, equipment and have meals prepared ahead of your arrival. Spend two nights rejuvenating in an island haven at award-winning eco Kingfisher Bay Resort. The hike is fully supported with an on the ground guide who will transfer you in a 4WD to the trailhead and meeting point along the track.

Your adventure starts from Hervey Bay to the Riverheads barge landing, where you will board a scenic ferry to Kingfisher Bay on Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world.
Journey privately by 4WD to the Fraser Island Great Walk trail head at Dili Village, the access point to your walking adventure of a lifetime! Leaving your overnight bags with your support guides where you’ll meet later at your first night’s camp, enjoy the comforts of carrying just a day pack as you immerse the entirety of this beautiful walk. A boardwalk journeys through the creek where swamp banksia, melaleucas, sedges and coral ferns thrive. Meander amongst quaint gum woodlands with rewarding coastline views from Wongi Sandblow before striding through fragrant eucalyptus forests to Lake Boomanjin, the largest perched lake in the world. Drop the pack and unlace the boots as you feel the fine white sand between your toes. Take a refreshing dip in its shallow waters before enjoying a delicious picnic lunch overlooking the serene lake before you. Stroll along the foreshore passing through an ever-changing landscape of lush rainforests, open woodlands and sand to Lake Benaroon, one of Fraser Island’s more secluded lakes. Another perfect place for a refreshing afternoon swim.
Be welcomed to your first night’s camp at the serene Lake Benaroon. With your tents pitched and camp site set for your arrival, enjoy a cheeseboard paired with a cold beer or wine followed by a gourmet dinner prepared by your guides as you exchange great stories on your first day’s adventures. Retire in your comfortable tents beneath the stars in a true state of zen.

Wake up to the peaceful serenity of the bush with a morning swim at the lake to awaken your senses. Enjoy a relaxed light breakfast before resuming the trail. Journey through lush rainforest and tall eucalyptus meeting the clear sparkling waters of Lake Birrabeen. A tranquil setting to your morning, recharge in its white sandy beach and crystal blue waters before ascending to the historic Central Station, set amongst vine forests and kauri pines. While here, indulge in a hearty lunch.
Following a boardwalk, cross the bridge over crystal clear waters of Wanggoolba Creek before ascending through lush forests and onto the shores of Basin Lake. Marvel at banksia woodland, tall open forest and melaleuca wetland to the jewel of Fraser Island; the picturesque Lake McKenzie. With its pure white sand and incredible turquoise water, it is not surprising that Lake McKenzie is considered one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. The water is naturally acidic, making it difficult for fish and plant life to flourish. The result is a virgin swimming spot that is as peaceful as it is beautiful.
It is at this magnificent setting you’ll be met with your guide and camp set ready for you to unwind. Enjoy a peaceful afternoon swim before sipping on a cool beer or a glass of wine as you watch a blissful sunset where the evening skies changes colours before your eyes. Enjoy pre dinner nibbles before another delicious dinner around the camp table under the sheer magnitude of a sparkling night sky.

Rise and shine! A blissful sunrise over the stunning Lake McKenzie is worth the early wake up. Start another tranquil morning with a fresh swim before completing your final section of the track.
You’ll leave your overnight bags packed and ready to be transferred by your guide. Journey through some of the island’s most spectacular tall, open rainforests before strolling to the Lake Wabby lookout for a bush picnic giving sweeping panoramic views of the lake and Hammerstone Sandblow. Tackle the steep white sand dunes to the deep green waters of the crescent-shaped Lake Wabby, the deepest lake on Fraser Island at 11.4 meters. A startlingly beautiful contrast, marvel as the water come alive with 12 species of fish which dart between your fingers in this secluded setting. Marvel at this deep barrage lake formed over time as the migrating sands of exposed dunes gradually blocked a coastal creek. Today the sandblow is threatening the lake’s survival, so be sure to take a refreshing dip before it disappears.
A short journey later takes you to the Eastern Beach of Fraser Island where your private 4WD awaits with your bags. Transfer to your island sanctuary for the next two nights at Kingfisher Bay Resort. Spend the rest of the day unwinding at the resort and enjoying its award-winning facilities.
Be treated to a relaxing sleep in or take a peaceful morning stroll amongst the natural surrounds. Today, you do as little or as much as you please as you enjoy the resort’s premium facilities.
Immerse yourself in an island haven as you relish in an immersive nature-based retreat surrounded by native flora and fauna and bush-tucker inspired fine dining experiences at the resort’s several restaurants and bars. Feeling fresh and rejuvenated, reunite with your guide as you journey by 4WD to the Fraser Island Great Walk trail head. Delve deeper to a different part of the island and into a rainforest adventure.
Traverse deep into the vegetated heart of Fraser Island through magnificent rainforest and lush tropical landscapes into the mystical Valley of the Giants. Be captivated by the island’s oldest and tallest trees, some stretching over 40 meters towards the sky; a place where the canopy seems to swallow the sun. Soak in the serenity of such a majestic place where your only interruption is by the chatter of birds and whispers of the treetops. Along the way, you will be able to experience two side walks. The first will take you to the vast, desert-like sands of Badjala Sandblow. Enjoy a picnic lunch here while admiring the ever changing sandblows that are a silent witness to the forces that shape this environment. The second is the Giant Satinay Tree Walk, where you’ll traverse one of the oldest living trees on the island.

Wake up to the birds’ echoes and in the lush tranquility of the rainforest amongst the tallest trees. Traverse impressive stands of brush box, satinay trees, lush towering rainforest, heathland and marvel at the Tallowood Tree; one of the biggest and oldest on the island! Keep eyes peeled for plentiful of birdlife, echidnas and listen to the rustle of skinks in the leaf litter. Journey along the picturesque Bogimah Creek and pop by the historical sites of Petrie’s Camp where remains of the earliest logging caps and forestry trial sites on the island. Enjoy serene scenic views before arriving at the stunning tea-tree infused Lake Garawongera. Spend the rest of the afternoon swimming its calm waters and exploring the serene forest surrounds.
It is at this tranquil forest you’ll be met with your guide and camp set ready for you to unwind. Enjoy sipping on a cool beer or a glass of wine as you watch a blissful sunset where the evening skies changes colours before your eyes. Enjoy pre dinner nibbles before another delicious dinner around the camp table under the mesmerising rainforest.
Approx. 9.5 km (5.9 miles), 5 hours walking, easy grade
Wake up to the peaceful serenity of the forest with a morning swim at the lake to awaken your senses. Enjoy a relaxed light breakfast before resuming the trail. Stride along a steep ridge, revel at fragrant eucalyptus forests and climb the island’s east coast dunes completing your Great Walk adventure at the quaint seaside village of Happy Valley. Here, you'll meet your guide for a 4WD transfer down the iconic 75-mile beach admiring its breathtaking scenes. Those fortunate souls may see a pod of dolphins or a migrating whale. Journey through pristine beaches of Eurong to the lush rainforests of Central Station before settling in for a delicious lunch.
Delve deeper into the pristine beauty of Fraser Island hiking through Pile Valley. Traverse ancient rainforest recently recognised as one of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopies (one of three in Australia). Be captivated with the only place in the world where rainforests can grow from the sand at 200 meters above sea level! Travel by 4WD to another meeting point along the great track for an afternoon walk to the jewel of Fraser Island, the magnificent Lake McKenzie to the secret hiker's beach. With its pure white sand and incredible turquoise water, it is not surprising that Lake McKenzie is considered one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Bask in the sunshine and relax with a swim in the pristine freshwater perched lake.
Transfer back by 4WD to the Kingfisher landing and enjoy a final celebratory sunset drink at the Jetty Hut, a fantastic opportunity for a convivial affair and farewell your guides and fellow travellers. Depart off on the barge and back to Hervey Bay at 5pm for your own onward travel arrangements.

Fraser Island is gloriously mild and sunny throughout the year. In summer, the temperature sits around 27 degrees Celsius during the day, dropping to around 22 degrees Celsius during the night. In winter, the temperature drops to 13 degrees Celsius during the night.
The hiking season from March to October is the drier season of the year, with September expecting just 39mm. If it does rain, it is generally just short showers.
The island is rather humid in April, October and November.

A supplementary price is available (see below). Bookings are not confirmed until full payment and the signed Booking Form has been received by Onlyluxe Travel.A non-refundable 50% deposit is payable within 7 days of your booking, with the final balance due 60 days prior to departure. If a booking is made 60 days or less before departure, the full payment is payable immediately. Last minute bookings are payable before arrival. Failure to pay on time may result in automatic cancellation of a booking with cancellation penalties payable to Onlyluxe Travel. If you pay by credit card or PayPal a surcharge will be added to the total price.Single SupplementAll accommodation is twin share. Single guests will share with someone of the same gender. If a single room is demanded, a supplementary price of will apply. COVID-19 Temporary Amended Terms & ConditionsUp until 31 days before your trip departure, if you are directly prevented from attending the trip due to a COVID-19 Government restriction or border closure*, we will provide a travel credit voucher equivalent to any funds paid that can be put toward a future departure within 24 months of your original departure date.
If you are directly prevented from attending the trip within 30 days of departure, due to a COVID-19 Government restriction or border closure*, we will provide a travel credit voucher equivalent to any funds paid less a $400pp fee, that can be put toward a future departure within 24 months of your original departure date.
Guests are required to confirm cancellation/postponement in writing.

Travel credit is not redeemable for cash and new booking using travel credit is non-refundable.
Onlyluxe Travel will do our very best to reschedule your service for another time that is convenient to you. Our ability to reschedule a cancelled tour will depend on availability and your preferences. A new departure date may also incur higher pricing due to the following reasons: a) when a new departure date falls in peak seasons, holiday periods, or weekends; and b) higher new season service rates may apply. Guests are required to consult availability and cost for a new departure date with Onlyluxe Travel consultants. Onlyluxe Travel reserves the right to confirm a new departure date and cost.

* A government travel restriction is official government advice or restrictions associated with the pandemic in respect of border restrictions or closures and quarantine requirements. The restriction or closure must be active during the scheduled departure date of your trip. If there are restrictions or closures in place with no prescribed end date the restriction will be deemed to impact your departure if it is still in place 60 days prior to the departure date. Any non-refundable permits, flights or other non-recoverable prepayments that have been paid by you and sent on to secure those services may not be refundable subject to the terms of the third party suppliers whom hold those funds. The tour operator is at the mercy of nature in all her beauty and all her fury. The tour operator will under no circumstance knowingly place at risk the health and well-being of our guests and guides. In the case of natural threats, acts of God and the like (e.g. bushfires, impassable snow, etc) the tour operator may need to cancel a walk with very little notice. In some cases, this can occur after the walk has commenced. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel any walk up to 60 days prior to departure if a minimum of 4 walkers are unable to meet for a tour. If the tour operator needs to cancel for any reason, the cost of the walk or any other costs associated with travel to the designated pick up point, overnight accommodation, meals, etc will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore we strongly recommend travel insurance be taken out prior to travel.Force Majeure'Force Majeure' means (without restriction) any event which Onlyluxe Travel or its third party providers could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure Onlyluxe Travel will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.EvacuationsIn rare circumstances, due to injury or unforeseen illness, the tour operator may need to evacuate you from a remote part of the walk. Helicopter evacuations are expensive and in most cases will be at a cost to the customer.For Australian residents, under the Australian Government Medicare Act, it is prohibited for any domestic travel insurance product to provide any financial reimbursement with regard to ambulance or air ambulance services. We therefore strongly advise our customers to take specific ambulance cover through their health insurance provider. Evacuation cost will not be covered by the Onlyluxe Travel and therefore it is also strongly recommended that our customers take out travel insurance to cover (amongst other things) the costs associated with evacuation.Travel InsuranceIn view of the heavy cancellation penalties applied to cancelled reservations in certain circumstances, we strongly recommends suitable travel insurance be purchased at the time the holding deposit is paid. We recommend insurance cover that covers any loss which may be suffered due to cancellation. We also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance against loss of baggage and medical expenses.
