With qualified and experienced local guides and a group of no more than 10, explore the Grampians Peaks Trail from the beginning without compromising on comfort. The Northern end of the national park is by far the most dramatic part – huge rocky outcrops and sheer sandstone cliffs dominate its dry, sandy gullies and valley floors. Starting at the national park’s northernmost tip – Mount Zero, you’ll scramble to incredible 360-degree views and feel dwarfed by the scale of the landscape. You’ll also visit newly rediscovered waterfalls and Indigenous rock art sites.
This action-packed 5-day package includes 3-nights’ accommodation in a private off-the-grid eco-lodge and 1-night’s luxury accommodation at the historic Royal Mail Hotel on a twin share basis. Finish each day with hot showers, crisp linen and outstanding catering – all the adventure with a little more luxe. Qualified and experienced local guides will accompany you throughout the hikes, with all required transfers included. You only need to carry a few small things for the day such as water, a snack and a raincoat.
Get off the beaten track and discover a lesser-known side of the Grampians with this deluxe 5-day hiking adventure. The dramatic natural beauty of this area will leave you breathless.
This package is self-drive. You are required to make your own way to arrive in Halls Gap to join the tour.
This tour is eligible to earn ONLYLUXE reward points.
Departing from Melbourne, self-drive approximately 3 hours to the glorious Grampians.
Check into your boutique eco-lodge and settle in with a welcome drink. There will be a light dinner available for those that arrive in time. Once the team has assembled, listen into a briefing on the next few days. The evening is then yours to relax and get to know your new friends.

A short transfer will take you to Mount Zero – the northernmost peak of the Grampians Peaks Trail – to the start of your walk. Follow the trail and enter the Stapylton Ampitheatre, where you will be dwarfed by the red and yellow streaked faces of the Taipan Wall, one of Victoria’s tallest and steepest rock-climbing walls.
Upon exiting the ampitheatre, you will have the option to scramble to the summit of Mount Stapylton (Gunigalg). It’s quite a scramble with some exposure to heights, so this side trip may not be for everyone. Nevertheless, those who brave their way to the top will be rewarded with a view that will leave you breathless.
After climbing Mount Stapylton, continue southward and descend through a gorge to visit beautiful Barigar Falls. From here, it’s just a short walk back to your accommodation for the evening.
Walking Information: Distance: 16km/9.9mi l Elevation increases 600m/1968ft and decreases 600m/1968ft
Rejoin the trail and meander alongside sheer cliffs and newly rediscovered waterfalls.
The highlight of today is an optional side trip up to Briggs Bluff. Keen adventurers will be rewarded with epic 360-degree views of the Northern Grampians and the Wimmera Plains. You will then backtrack slightly and visit Beehive Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Grampians. Cool off in the fine rainbow mist and enjoy the pretty fern-lined rock pools. Go in spring and you’ll see some amazing wildflowers too.
Dial back the pace with a visit to an Indigenous art site and learn a little about the cultural landscape you have been walking through. Then, pay a visit to a local olive grove for a tour and a gourmet platter of local produce. In the afternoon, head back to your accommodation for a final debrief and departure around 1-2 pm.
You’ll stay the night at the regal Royal Mail Hotel. First opened in 1855, the hotel has undergone a multi-million-dollar refurbishment to become a hub of ‘destination dining at its best’.
Dinner tonight is at Parker Street Project. Upgrade to two-hatted Wickens at Royal Mail Hotel is available at an additional cost. Up to 80% of the produce showcased on the various menus is grown onsite and harvested daily by the kitchen team. The neighbouring farm supplies beef and lamb which are born and bred for use specifically in the Royal Mail Hotel dining room, and further produce is grown and foraged for in surrounding orchards, olive groves and wild pastures.
Enjoy one last delicious breakfast and check out by 11:00am. Self-drive to commence your onward journey.
